Gordon Robert Stritzel

Obituary

     Gordon Stritzel was born on April 3rd, 1942, to Robert and Virginia Stritzel. He was an only child. He is proceeded in death by his parents and two aunts. He is survived by his two sons (Max and Steven) and his ex-wife.

     Gordon attended grade school at Saint Catherine’s and graduated high school at Bishop Blanchet High School. He attended culinary school and then went on to Everett Community College.  He met the love of his life Vera VanDeest. After several quarters of community college Gordon was drafted into the United States Army. Gordon was stationed in Germany. He enjoyed being stationed in Germany and had many stories to tell and pictures to show to all who would listen. Gordon was married in 1967 and became a Dad in 1974 and then again in 1979. He raised two very successful sons, both who joined the United States Marine Corps.

    Gordon worked at Shockey Pack meat cutter, and then after 7 years moved back to Seattle. He worked for Albertsons for a short time as a meat cutter but spent 20 years with Safeway.  By the late 80’s early 90’s meat cutting jobs were getting harder to find due to meat being packed at the slaughterhouses. Gordon then found himself a job as a truck driver for a small company by the name of Postal Express. He worked for another 20 years as a delivery driver until his retirement in 2010. After retirement Gordon enjoyed reading and traveling. In the last few years, Gordon showed increasing signs of dementia.  He moved into Brookdale nursing home in Northgate. When that facility closed, he moved to Brookdale nursing facility in Federal Way.
