Obituary
Grace Akosua Odei was born on the 25th April 1976 to Mr. Samuel Lartey Odei and Comfort Amankwaah Dwamena, both of blessed memory.
She started her early childhood life at Nsuta, Western Region when her father was working at then Ghana Manganese Company.
Together with Ama, her senior sister, Akos attended Hooper Preparatory School at Tarkwa and later countinued her schooling at Prince of Peace Academy near Legon, Accra when the family relocated to Accra.
Due to her smartness, she sat for the common entrance examination at Class five when she was still very young. As fate will have it, she passed and was admitted into the Armed Forces Technical School (AFSTS), Burma Camp. At AFSTS, she developed keen interest in extra curricula activities, especially in sports and singing.
After her GECE exams, she decided to take up teaching as a profession, so she enrolled into the Presbyterian Women Training College in Aburi where she trained as a professional teacher. She started her teaching career at Agona in the Central Region. She later had admission to University of Education, Winneba where she pursued a bachelor’s degree in Basic Education. After graduation from Winneba, she married and relocated to Koforidua to join her husband. Later in 2008, Akos relocated to Accra and had employment at British International School, East Legon.
Later in 2014, she decided to travel to the USA. She first settled with her Aunt in Atlanta and later moved to Seattle where she lived and worked. While in Seattle she joined the New Abundant Grace Church and was a very active member.
Akos was a very private person who believed in challenging the status quo. She always had something up her sleeves and she strived to have a good family life. She main focus during the latter part of her life was to do the best she can to support her children.
On the Monday, 14th of May 2018 Grace Akosua Odei passed away aftera short illness. She left behind three kids Papaa, Kojo and Wendy. She will be dearly missed
Damirifa due Akos.
My sincere condolences for your loss. While I did not know Grace personally, I do know the pain of loss and I wanted to share what brought me and my family true comfort…We were strengthened by God’s promise in Isaiah 25:8 which reads, “He [God] will swallow up death forever, And the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will wipe away the tears from all faces…” What a joyous time that will be when death is no longer our greatest enemy and we will be reunited with our loved ones who have died. They will be resurrected here on earth in a beautiful paradise. May the memories of Grace live in your minds and hearts until you seen her again. http://www.jw.org
