Obituary
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Guido Louis Azzola, born on January 7, 1930, in Renton, Washington. He left this world peacefully in Seatac, Washington, surrounded by love, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, joy, and cherished memories.
Guido was the beloved son of Margret and Tony Azzola, who instilled in him the values of hard work, kindness, and family togetherness. He was preceded in death by his loving wife and lifelong partner in crime, Lila, who brought him laughter and companionship throughout their years together. He was also preceded in death by his brother John, with whom he shared countless memories and adventures.
Guido’s educational journey began at Renton High School, from which he graduated in 1949. His spirit of service led him to enlist in the Army, where he proudly served his country and was discharged with honors. This experience shaped his character and deepened his appreciation for life and the freedom he fought to protect.
After his military service, Guido devoted his career to the grocery retail industry, where he managed the produce departments of several grocery chains. His reputation for hard work and dedication was matched only by his friendly demeanor, which made him beloved by coworkers and customers alike.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Guido was a man of many passions. He was an avid gardener, finding joy and solace in nurturing plants and watching them flourish. Fishing was another of his great loves, as was storytelling; he had a unique ability to captivate audiences with tales from his life, often infused with humor and heart. Above all, Guido cherished his family, and each moment spent with them was a treasure.
Guido is survived by his son Steve and his spouse James, and his daughter Denise and her husband Ron. He is also survived by his brother Larry and his wife Linda, who were a source of strength and support throughout his life. His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Calvin and his wife Sheryl, and his granddaughters Salena and Tanya, as well as his great-grandchild Klein. Guido took immense pride in his family and their accomplishments, always ready to lend a listening ear or offer sage advice.
Guido’s playful spirit shone through in his delightful humor. He often described himself as “half scotch and half whiskey” when asked how he was doing, a testament to his happy-go-lucky personality that endeared him to many. His laughter and positivity will be missed, as he had a remarkable ability to uplift those around him with his infectious joy for life.
As we say goodbye to Guido, we celebrate a life well-lived, filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished moments. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. He leaves behind a legacy of resilience, kindness, and an unwavering commitment to family.
A visitation and funeral service will be held at Bonney Watson in Seatac on 12/16/24 to honor Guido’s life and legacy.
Rest in peace, Guido Louis Azzola. You will be dearly missed.
So many memories. From the time I was born. I spent so much time with this family we thought we were cousins.😘.
Both my sister and I went fishing many times with uncle guido. Mom and aunt Lila were best friends. My dad and uncle Guido met when uncle Guido was a high school kid in Renton. Guido would hang out my dad’s garage and they became best friends. My husband Ed and my sister’s husband Bill had a few fishing trips with uncle Guido that they will never forget. I also have fishing trips with uncle Guido as a child with my dad.
Camping many times in Gold Bar and Cle Elum WA. His happy spirt and outlook on life will live on forever with all of us that he touched. Celebrate that man’s life.
Although my sister Rosann and her husband Bill are no longer with us, they visited uncle Guido every time they were in town. He meant a lot to them. Rosann helped them with their rentals and went fishing with them.
Love you all
Maryann and Ed Behrend
