Gwendolyn E. Gill
Passed away peacefully November 16, 2011. She was born in Newport News, VA on July 16, 1926, to the union of John H. and Inez (Thornton) Ingram. Gwendolyn was the third of six children. She relocated to Seattle in 1952 where she met and married Charles D. Gill Sr. She is preceded in death by her husband Charles D. Gill Sr., her parents, and brothers Ripley, Rapheal and John as well as two of her nine children. She leaves to mourn her passing seven children: Debra A. Jones, Charles D. Gill Jr. (Sonia), Oral N. Gill (Laura), Michael J. Gill (Ramona), Tracy M. Gill, Trina M. Beatty (Eric) and Christine Gill Young (Kenny), as well as 12 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and a host of extended family and friends. She is also survived by sisters Lana Smith and Jacqueline Miles.
Gwendolyn was a doting presence in her children’s lives. Their childhood was filled with her participation in a multitude of sporting events, classroom volunteering, extracurricular activities, and homemaking.
Her personal interests included her classical piano training which she shared with the St. Therese Parish community spanning over 40 years. She was also a loyal volunteer with St. Vincent de Paul and the Homeless Women’s Shelter. Gwendolyn touched many lives with her compassionate and caring nature. Her faith in God and family were the love of her life. Our Mom cherished each of her children’s, grandchildren’s and great grandchildren’s birthdays. This was their special day and they deserved to be recognized and celebrated. She loved to decorate for every holiday, especially Christmas. We will miss our mother this holiday season and know that she’s still celebrating.
Love you Mom
Peace be with you my lovely, lovely Mom.
May God welcome you with a warm embrace, and the angels sing your favorite hymn.
Peace be with your family. Mrs. Gill will always be a memory for me, she showed nothing but love and support for myself and children. She will be missed.
You will forever be in my heart. I love you grandma.
