I have nothing but fond memories of Harold during my days in the service with him.I remember the many times I spent with him and Cathy along with Kim during my visits in Seattle. He gave me a hard time in the service,in his own way,but I loved it.

My thoughts and prayers go out to each family member of Harold’s. I worked with Harold at the King County Housing Authority and he was one of my favorite people, he always had something to say that made me smile and was enjoyable to work with and be associated with, I missed him when he left the Authority.

Dearest Katherine, Kimberly, Mike, Tony, family and friends, my heart goes out to you at this time of great loss. A man who deeply loved his family always putting others needs ahead of his own. A special kind of person who knew the difference between right and wrong. His greatness is reflected by the virtues he lived by. I will never forget the many holidays and times we spent together. He always made my children and I feel like a part of the family. I will forever seek his spirit and guidance through difficult times. Please accept my deepest sympathy and most sincere regret.

All our love,

I am so blessed to have had Harold as a father in law in my life as wll as a grandpa to our children. Harold was a great Father, and a great grandfather to our children. And talk about talented. He was a great inspiration to my husband Mike and a large piece will be missing in all of us. Harold was a fantastic wood worker making kitchen sets for our children when they were young, hope chests, as well as a baby cradle for our doughter when she was about 4yrs old. In memory of Harold, I have a wonderful hope chest he made me that I will cherish forever. We love you dad and you will always have a big part of you in our hearts.

God bless you,

A million times we needed you

A million times we cried

If love alone could have saved you

You never would have died

In life we loved you dearly

In death we love you still

In our hearts you hold a place no one could ever fill

It broke our hearts to lose you

But you didn’t go alone

Part of us went with you

The day god took you home

God saw that you were getting

Tired and relief was not to be

So he put his arms around you

And whispered come with me

With tearful eyes we stayed with you

But saw you fade away

Although we loved you dearly

We could not make you stay

A golden heart stopped beating

Hard working hands to rest

God broke our hearts to prove to us

He only takes the best

Dad I am so glad that we had those extra years together. I love you and I’ll miss our daily talks. There has never been a better dad than you. I know your smiling down on us.

Your Loving Daughter,

Kimberly

Grandpa,

I can’t tell you enough how lucky I was to have a grandfather like you in my life. You have given me so many great memories. On top of all of the great memories of you I have many things you have made for me that I will keep and love forever. As your memorial comes closer it gets hard, but then I think of how you were and what you would want. You always wanted everyone smiling and laughing, because thats how you were and tomorrow you are going to get that. I love you Grandpa and I will forever miss you.

Dear Mom, Kim, Mike and Tony,

Please accept my deepest sympathy on your loss. It is with tearful eyes I type this….. Harold or Pops to me was my second father and touched my life in ways I find hard to express in words. He was a great man and such a giving person, and was always there to help our family though every step of our lives. He gave of his time and talents to others freely without ever expecting anything in return. I wouldn’t be living where I am today if it wasn’t for pops looking at the Seattle Times one Sunday morning and sharing his findings with us. Everywhere I look around me, I see memories and his handywork, even in the building I call home. I couldn’t imagine a better man for my children to look up to and call their Grandfather. I know they will only have love in their hearts and the fondest of memories when they think of him.

Pops, I will miss you so much. I know that everytime I grab my hammer, or cut a piece of wood, I will hear you in the back of my mind, you know what I mean…. Please remember that your family will always be my family.

With love, Mark… Aka Meathead

Kathy, Kim, Mike, Tony Our prayers go out for you in our great loss.

I first met Harold when I was hired as a maintenance mechanic with Harold as my foreman. Over the next 30 years a comradery and lasting friendship developed.

Harold was the kindest, fairest, most honest person I ever had the pleasure of working with. His loyalty to family and friends was above approach.

I am sorry we can’t be with you this day but know you are foremost in our thoughts and prayers.

Dear Kathy and family,

Thank you so much for letting us share in the wonderful memorial for Harold that we attended today. What a tribute to such a wonderful friend and co-worker.

Larry fondly remembers the times that he worked with Harold as groundsmen at Park Lake and moving furniture and fumigating units and a lot of mechanical work. He always enjoyed working with Harold. They both attended a lot of Union and Nahro meetings together. They both had a lot of the same interest and had a lot in common.

We both had a lot of fun with both Harold and Kathy and all their family at their lake property and also had such a great time caravaning to Reno.We fondly remember the stop for dinner at Manley’s on the way up there.

Remember the time at the ocean shortley after you got your motor home and we all went camping . We were sitting in your rig and Kirby kept turning off the T.V. with the remote and Harold had a heck of a time trying to figure out what was wrong with the T.V?

We always had a fun time with Harold. Such an inspiring person to be around and so devoted to you,Kathy and the family.

We want to thank Harold for being a part of our lives. He has given us memories to last a life time, but our friendship will last forever.

We will miss Harold and may he rest in the peace of the Lord.

Our love to you all,

Larry and Betty Heyden

Harold…I know that you are in a place that is reserved for the “Best of the Best”. You certainly earned your spot there. Thank you so much for being the grandpa that my children would otherwise never had. We all loved you very much. My heart aches for Kathy, Kim, Mike, Tony and the rest of the family. You have left an empty space in the lives of many people. We all miss you very much. You will never be forgotten.

I am extremely sorry about your loss. There was a time when Harold was like a second father to me, I probably spent the night up the street at your house as much as I did at home. I have great memories of those years. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

The day that you died

my heart was split in two.

One side was filled with memories,

the other died with you.

I lay awake at night,

while the world is fast asleep,

and take a walk down memory lane,

with tears upon my cheeks.

Remembering you is easy,

I do it every day.

But missing you is a heartache,

that never goes a way.

I hold you tightly within my heart,

where visions of you remain.

Life goes on without you,

but it’ll never be the same.

To Kathy and all of the family. We are so sorry for your loss. We absolutely loved teasing with Harold. Bob enjoyed competing, if you can call it that with the Christmas decorations, and I just enjoyed all the stuff he could throw out at me. If you’re reading this Harold, remember to keep your chin wiped!

I didn’t know Harold, but I know his daughter Kim. Judging from what I know about her. Harold must have been a wonderful man. She shows atributes of Love, Kindness and Understanding to all. Praise God for giving us the Gift of Harold, and the gift of continuing his legacy in the offspring he produced and the people in his life that he touched.

To My Brother-In-Law, whom I miss dearly.

We little knew that morning that God was going to call your name. In life we loved you dearly, in death we do the same.

It broke our hearts to lose you, you did not go alone, for part of us went with you the day God called you home.

You left us peaceful memories, your love is still our guide, and though we cannot see you, you are always at our side.

Our family chain is broken, and nothing seems the same, but as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again.

I’m so glad you were part of our family……….your the brother I never had.

Love, Joyce

I remember back in 1970 when Harold and Kathy took me in, when I didn’t have a place to stay. I only had a motorcycle and a sea bag. You guys really helped out and treated me like family – literally – food and shelter and trust, and most of all, honest-to-God love. I was really pretty lost after the war, and you guys were a compass and a grounding agent in my life. I know I’d have gone to prison or worse if it hadn’t been for Harold and Kathy.

Harold sold me his Harley that he and Blacky Dunlap built. I rode that bike for thirteen years. I never kicked over and rode without thinking of him. The bike was a real eye-catcher and got lots of compliments. Harold, as usual, did a perfect job on it.

I really regret not staying in closer touch with you. You were, and are, in a special place. Everyone always knew where you stood and could count on you to do what you said. To me, Harold, you were a man’s man- in a fight to the death, I’d split a foxhole with you any day.

Patty and I are thinking of you, Kathy, and Kim, Michael, and Tony. We hope God will watch over and protect you until we’re all together.

And I miss you so much I would give anything just to have one more conversation with you. I still talk to you everyday and can still hear the sound of your voice answering back to me.

You have touched so many peoples life’s and are missed so much by everyone and you are talked about everyday.

I feel so lucky that you were my father and I miss you so much. You worked so hard your whole life to give us kids all you could and you and Mom are the best parents a kid could ever have

Dad I LOVE YOU and MISS YOU so much and promise to take care of MOM for you the best that I can, and try to fill your shoes with helping Kim and Tony…….

Please watch over all of us!

I LOVE YOU SO MUCH
