Obituary
Harold M. Dempster passed away peacefully while surrounded by his family at Enumclaw Regional Hospital on February 11th, 2009. His wife of 70 years, Ida M. ‘Toots’ Dempster formerly Thompson got to kiss him goodbye.
Born October 17th, 1914 in at home Rainer Valley, Harold was 94 years old. Of Swedish and Irish stock, Harold was a powerful man with a full head of white hair and the heart of a lion. He worked as a construction laborer in Seattle before joining the Seattle Fire Department, from which he retired in 1966. Offered a captaincy, Harold preferred to remain a Lieutenant on the big rig. Generous and hard-working, with a great sense of humor, Harold loved carpentry projects and constantly sought to be of service to others.
Harold is survived by his wife Ida Dempster, daughters Tina Tossey, Ida Marie Dempster and Jane Johnson, his son Bill, ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Services for the family were at Washington Memorial Park in Sea-Tac on Saturday, February 14th.
Contributions suggested to local Fire Departments.
My heart goes out to Grandma Dempster and my extended family. I wish we all had more time to spend together as a family before Grandpa’s passing.
Deepest condolences,
Kristyn Dempster
