Obituary
1st Sgt. Harry Belanger, USMC Retired passed on May 20th Armed Forces Day from a long struggle with cancer. Born in Seattle. Member of “V.U.M.S.”Veterans of Underage Military Service…who enlisted under the age of 17 during WWII: The Greatest Generation. Also served in the Korean War.
Retired from the Bon Marche in 1990.
He was a member of the White Center Eagles, Aerie # 2568; and the West Seattle American Legion.
Memorial Services have been scheduled for 10:00 A.M., Thursday, May 25, 2006 at Bonney-Watson Washington Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in SeaTac, WA.
Harry and his wife of 61 years, Allene, enjoyed RV-ing, and golfing with friends at Lake Limerick, Shelton, WA, for 38 years, and yearly trips to Camp Del Mar USMC Base in Oceanside, CA. They also loved cribbage, crossword puzzles and reading.
He is survived by his wife, four children Diane Belanger, Sharon Al Chafin, Harry Jr. Karey Belanger, and David Belanger. His grandchildren that he loved dearly, Sharice Salazar, Dianna Knudson David, Noelle Zimmerman Danny, Peter Salazar Cortney, Delena Belanger, Danielle Belanger, and Joel Belanger; 4 great-grandchildren; Joel Belanger II, Alexa Knudson, Jakob Knudson,, Jackson Zimmerman plus three “bonus” great-grandchildren… Allie, Amelia, and Cole. Also his sister Shirley Thomas of West Seattle.
Family would appreciate donations to USO Puget Sound Area in memory of Harry A. Belanger, Main Terminal, 2nd Floor, SeaTac Int’l Airport, Seattle, WA 98158, or the Salvation Army.
They would also like to thank the Bessie Burton Convalescent Home Staff, 2nd Floor, and Providence Hospice for wonderful comfort and care.
