Hayley "Willow" Marie Earp

June 13, 2000 - June 24, 2022

Obituary

Hayley Marie “Willow” Earp, 22, passed away on June 24, 2022, from an accidental overdose following a long battle with the disease of opiate addiction. She is survived by her grieving parents, Sean and Tiffany; her sister, Ashley; her brother, Christopher; and family pets, Taco and Geneva, all of whom love her very much.

Willow also left behind many friends and family who love her dearly and are devastated by her death. She especially loved her great-grandma Jeanne, Mario, Tiah, Lena, Heather, and Crystal, along with her grandparents, cousins, uncles, aunts, and friends. Willow always looked forward to getting together with the whole family for the holidays.

Born June 13, 2000, in Redmond, Washington, Willow was smart, quick to laugh, and quick to befriend. She painted and drew beautiful art, and she loved to journal and listen to music. Willow wrote beautiful and insightful poetry that came from the depths of her life experiences.  Willow enjoyed soccer and going for long drives in her BGY3300 Saab with a stick shift.  She loved parks and beaches and forests and camping.  She loved attending and being a counselor at WANGY camp. She loved her puppy, Taco, and ice cream and vinyls and British men and wiener dogs and the color yellow and concerts and tater tots and the hot dogs wrapped in Pillsbury croissants. Willow loved to travel, wanted to see the world, and made it as far as the Midwest. Willow loved to love and gave great hugs.

In high school she was asked, “what will people say at your funeral?” She replied: “I hope they talk about how I try to make others happy. Or my personality bc I try hard to make it good + radiant.”

Willow struggled with mental health and her addiction for many years, but never stopped fighting to get better and healthier and sober every day.  She loved and was loved fiercely and will be greatly missed. We are grateful that she is finally at peace.

If you want to help overcome the stigma and reduce the senseless tragedy of opiate addiction and overdose deaths:

  • First, know that those who struggle with addiction and homelessness are daughters and sons and sisters and brothers, and are deserving of compassion and love
  • Destigmatize the importance of mental health by talking about, supporting, and prioritizing mental health for yourself and your loved ones
  • Be kind to those around you. Everyone has more going on than you may know about
  • Visit Stopoverdose.org to learn about what to do if you witness an opioid overdose
  • Visit Notonemoreseattle.org to help end the stigma on opiate addiction through conversation
  • Visit Crisisconnections.org if you are experiencing crisis, need resources, or want to volunteer

We are grateful to https://www.hotelcaliforniabythesea.com/washington/ for helping Willow make tremendous progress towards lasting sobriety.  She was so close to breaking free.

Wow! What a beautiful tribute. Thank you for including information and resources for Opioid Use Disorder. This is a real problem that happens to good people; beautiful and vibrant people, like Hayley. All my love to the Earp family.

What a beautiful tribute to Willow! I think of you all often since hearing the news of her passing. I pray she has found the peace she needed and that you can heal as a family unit from such a tragedy.
Such a wonderful thing to include all of the information you did, I think sometimes people forget that all people with addictions had a past and there are people in their lives who love and pray for their recovery daily.

Hayley aka Wilson at WANGY will be truly missed. She always had a smile on her face even during the rough times. She left a lasting impact on the other junior counselors and staff she worked with. Hugs to her family.

I was with her at Rehab, few years ago. She let my borrow her gel pens and I colored a sheet that said I want break free (queen) I was devastated by her youthful demise due to this crazy ability to obtain meds that kill people, she was a gentle gentle soul. I have written about “weeping Willow” in my journal. We left rehab the same morning. I live, it’s so unfair that she does not. almost a year and I think of her so often. Rest girl, but we need to get to the bottom of this crisis so no one else is a sacrifice. Miss you girl
