Our Dear Helen,

It has now been 2 weeks since you went home to live with Our Heavenly Father. It was so hard to lose you but at least now there is no more pain. We are so lucky to have mega memories over the past 47 years and before, far too many to recount. When you were still with us I don’t think you had any idea how much you would be missed by Howard and so many many others including us.

So My Dear Sis, rest in peace.

We Love You.

I signed the guest book the day I heard from Lorraine that Helen died. I see it is no longer showing up. Helen and I shared so many years of our lives beginning in little old Eastedge playing “store” in John and Emma’s old shack. I could share so many memories but space doesn’t allow. These memories have been in my mind daily lately and they are good memories to have. We hadn’t seem much of one another over the years, but at our 50th reunion, it was as though we had never been apart. I can only try to understand your loss, Howard, and please know that I think of you and pray for strength for you in the difficult days ahead. You must be hurting so much. You were such a wonderful caregiver over the years. Hope to see you back in North Dakota sometime in the future or stop in Saint Paul if you are in this area. God walks with you through this incredible journey you are on as you mourn Helen.

I feel so blessed with having Helen as a friend and having worked with her for 27 years at Boeing. In my early years at Boeing she took me under her wing and taught me so much. Helen always had a smile and positive attitude. She was known to many of us as “Auntie Helen” even thought she wasn’t much older than us. She loved so much to share with others. She is already greatly missed.

Helen was a wonderful and funny woman. I grew up knowing her & Howard. They always came to my parents’ Bill & Mair house for “Stitch & Bitch” as Helen put it She was one of the spunkiest people I ever knew. I will always have a smile on my face when I think about her. May she rest in peace, and enjoy the laughter with my Pa again. Deanna

Helen was the most uptempo lady I ever knew even when she was so very ill. She always had a smile, a giggle, and a kind word for everybody. She always sent the most delightful e-mails as well. I will miss her greatly and was so very fortunate to be able to say I knew her and that she was my friend. Rest in God’s merciful peace, Helen.

Helen came to Huntsville to train a few of us on the

planning system we were converting to. She was such

a joy to work with. Always had a smile on her face and

tried to make the best out of every situation.

One time Helen and I were talking about seat belts in

cars and how they would cut into your throat sometimes.

We decided to invent a sheepsking/velcro cover so

it wouldn’t cut into your throat and it would be a lot more

comfortable. Her and I were very excited. This was on

a Friday. I went shopping that weekend and saw that

very thing being sold in the stores. I called Helen on

Monday and told her, “It’s too late. They are already

selling them in the stores.”. We used to laugh about

that often and how we were too slow about getting a prototype

out and a patent. There are a very few people that I would

say this about, but she was the salt of the earth.

There are a few people in your life that make your heart “smile” by just simply thinking of them. Helen was one of them. She always had a positive attitude which was accompanied by a smile, a GREAT recipe, a little joke, or one of those crazy Norwegian sayings!! We still have all the little burgundy and pick velvet bows Helen Ann made 25 years ago for our December wedding!! We get them out each Christmas for decorating. We thank God for blessing our lives with Helen’s love and friendship. Love, Gary and Barbara

Howard, I’m so profoundly sorry to hear of Helen’s death. I know she is no longer suffering and that is a comfort to know. She was such a wonderful person, we shared so much laughter throughout the years. She helped my son Teddy learn to do math when he was 7. We had such fun at Boeing, everyone loved her and she was so helpful to everyone. I know how hard it is for you Howard she loved you so much. Remember when you both came to my log house in Allyn? It was such a fun day!I will miss her, we e-mailed thru the years. I am sorry I can’t be there, but I live in AZ now and am not able to come to Seattle now. My thoughts and prayers are with you in this saddest time of your life. God be with you now and always. Love Arline

Helen had been my best and dearest friend for 45 years. We had so many wonderful times together, like our girls night-out at our monthly Sewing Club Group, doing ceramics together, having lunch or dinner out with our husbands, spending the night at each others home or just being together. Helen was so full of life and loved everyone she came into contact with. I will miss you very much babes. Rest in peace. Mair
