Helen Elizabeth SAMPSON

Born July 23, 1916 in Fairvale, NB, Canada, she died September 3, 2006 in Seattle, WA at the age of 90. Preceded in death by her first husband Roy Arndt and her second husband Ashford Sampson and her brother Harold H. Hoyt, Fredericton, NB. Survived by 2 brothers David M. Hoyt, Rothesay, NB and James Hoyt, Surrey, BC; 3 nephews David A. Hoyt, J. Stephen Hoyt and James Edward Hoyt; 2 nieces Joanne Miller and Shirley Fowler and numerous grand nieces and nephews. Elizabeth graduated from Business College after high school and later graduated from St. Joseph’s Hospital School of Nursing in Tacoma, she went on to receive her Masters Degree from the U of W School of Nursing in 1957. She practiced her profession as an RN at several hospitals including Maynard Hospital in Seattle where she was Director of Nursing Services. As a “snow bird”, Lib took up “water color painting”. She has displayed her art work in galleries and entered many art exhibits in the Seattle and Mesa, AZ areas. She was talented and admired by many who have purchased her watercolors over the years. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, September 12, 2006 at St. Elizabeth Episcopal Church, 1005 SW 152nd Street, Burien. It is 2014 and found one of her paintings at an antique shop in Idyllwild, Cal. Proprietor was a former neighbor of hers. Fell in love with her work and wished I knew where there was more to be seen.

I was just thinking about Grandma Elizabeth and all the wonderful memories of her. My Mom (who passed away 12/28/06) was Ashford Sampson’s daughter from a previous marriage. I miss all of them dearly.
