Obituary
Helen Irene Henne Holdaas
Born October 3, 1917 in Carbury, ND and died peacefully on October 27, 2008 in Gig Harbor, WA.
She was raised on a 160 acre wheat farm with one sister Anna and two brothers Melvin and Francis. She worked at Lien’s Jewelry Store in Bottineau, ND until she moved to Yakima in the early 40’s with Melvin and Anna. She worked as a field laborer in various crop fields in Eastern Washington until she moved back to North Dakota for several years.
In 1953 Helen and Anna moved back to Seattle where both brothers were living by then. She lived in the South Seattle area with Anna and her daughters Marilyn and Linda and worked as a Rivet Bucker at Boeing. Helen worked at H. L. Green Dime store for many years while being a second mom to Anna’s girls. She moved to a dime store in Burien to work closer to home.
There were always big family dinners where Helen and Anna did most of the cooking, never sitting down to enjoy any of the wonderful feast that they had prepared until everyone else was done and the food was cold.
Helen married for the first time in 1969 at the age of 52 to Emil Otto Henne who preceded her in death in 1999 after 30 years of marriage. She spent many wonderful years traveling with Otto, Anna and her husband, Glen, going to North Dakota and Reno, just to name a few of their destinations. Helen and Otto also spent every weekend going to garage and estate sales finding treasures galore.
Helen left behind two step-daughters; Linda and Lori and a step-son William. She was an important part of raising Lori and left behind lots of great memories. She has also left behind many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was a member of Glendale Lutheran Church in Burien for about 40 years until she moved out of the area. Her sweet spirit will be greatly missed, there’s no one else like her.
The children of Harold and Evelyn Holdaas would like to send our condolences to Helen’s family.
She’s with Otto again – in a much better place.
God Bless.
Delores Holdaas and her family send their sincere condolences. And, once again, she’s with Otto in a better place.
Helen was a wonderful wife to Otto and an exceptional sister-in-law. They are together now and are loved by all who knew them
Helen and Anna made the best cookies. Helen was as sweet as they come!
I LOVE YOU SO MUCH!

Hulu and Anna are the best great aunties ever. Linda, Maryland you’ll live with me forever. I can’t finish this all via txt. I love all of you forever. Lenny you are one of the greatest men to ever live. Thanks for the the sausage biscuit. I know it was 10 cents more.
Otto was great guy. I miss him. I remember as a kid stealing a few pocket knives. That wasn’t a good idea. We were playing hide the button. The knives fell out of my blue 1980’s slacks. He tapped me on the shoulder and I knew. Hulu took me out to the driveway and tried to get me to tell the truth. I d3nied everything. 39 years later this is one of the toughest things to admit to.
