Obituary
Passed away on January 12, 2012 at the age of 100. She was born on September 21, 1911 in Seattle to Toyojiro & Fusa Hikida. She was the eldest of 10 children. At age 8, Helen was sent to live in Japan for 5 years before returning to Seattle. During the war, she was evacuated to Minidoka, ID and then moved to Spokane before relocating to Seattle in 1946.
She retired from Nordstrom after 19 years of employment. The last 13 years of her life was spent at Nikkei Manor Assisted Living. A member of the Ohmi Club and a Long time member of the Seattle Buddhist Church and its Women’s Association.
Predeceased by Frank Kubo, her husband of 65 years. She is survived by her daughter, Frances (Harry ) Nishimoto ; Brother Albert (Shiz) Hikida; sister-in-laws, Kay, Mary & Jane Hikida; and brother Isamu Hikida of Japan.
A special “Thank you” to the staff at Nikkei Manor for the wonderful care she received. Her spunky happy personality will be missed by all. Memorial service to be held on Saturday, January 21, 2012 at 2 pm. at Seattle Buddhist Church.
