On March 5, 2021 with family by her side, Hideko (Suzuki) Tekawa was peacefully and lovingly welcomed into her Heavenly home.
Hideko was born November 19, 1933 in Los Angeles, California. Hideko was the youngest of five sisters. Her career spanned 35 years at Concord Elementary as school secretary. Generosity and cheerfulness were her greatest qualities. She was married to Donell Manabu Tekawa for 60 years before he passed away in 2014. During WWII her family was removed from their home and transported to the internment camp in Poston, AZ.
She is survived by sister Yuri Nishioka, son Brian (Kathy) Tekawa, daughters Sharon (Ron) Hirata, and Julie (Wes) Yee. Her surviving legacy also includes five granddaughters, Jessica (Tien) Pham, Lisa (Nathan) Chang, Justine (Sam) Park, Courtney (Karstin) Jacobson, April Yee and eight great-grandchildren, Eliana, Naomi, Mira, Megumi, Toshi, Bethany-Hope, Caleb, and Alayna.
The family is extremely grateful to Sunrise Senior Living and Providence Hospice for the loving care provided during her final days. We will greatly miss her presence, but know her joy is now complete.
