Horace K. Suinn, age 89, loving husband, father, and brother, passed away from kidney failure January 22, 2018, he went peacefully in his sleep, while listening to Hawaiian music and holding the hand of his eldest daughter.
Born 1928 to Maurice and Edith Suinn in Honolulu, HI. Horace graduated from St. Louis College, in 1946. in that same year he volunteered to serve in the U.S. Army and promised God that if he ever made it out of World War II, he would go to church and serve. In 1952, he married the love of his life, Ramona, they recently celebrated 65 years of a wonderful marriage.
A 30+ years electrical engineer at Boeing, worked on several projects, including those for NASA. He’s remembered for his loyalty, integrity, and hard working nature.
In 1967, ushering at St. Vincent de Paul’s started Horace’s life long passion of service to the church where he became a lecturer of ministry and member of Knights of Columbus. His faith and love for speaking would lead him to also serve at St. Theresa’s with a combined service at both churches of over 44 years.
Since 1973, Horace was active in the Freemasons, Thornton F. McElroy Masonic Lodge No 302, was Worshipful Master, was awarded the Hiram Award in 2001 & 2004 and Grand Master Achievement Award in 2004, and for over 35 years he directed the Fredrick W. Root School Scholarship program. He would always make himself available to several other lodges when the need arose. As life time member of Scottish Rite, he was elected the highest honor of 33rd Degree and the Rank of Inspector General Honorary for years of unselfish service to the Freemasonry and imparting brotherly love to his fellowman. Horace was an essential member of the Grand Lodge Library Museum Committee since 1988. His dedication to serve these organizations touched and united many hearts and lives.
His lifetime philosophy being, “If you want a fulfilling life, lead a life of service.” We believe he achieved that.
