She wasx the sixth of seven children and the youngest daughter of Felix and Mary Hicklin. She was raised on the family farm and remembered fondly the freedom of ridingt horses in the desert, swimming in the canals and living off the land. Growing up during the depression, she gained a lifelong appreciation of the value fo family support in trying times. She graduated from Mabton high school in 1940 and recently celebrated her 60th class reunion.

After graduating from high school she followed her siblings to college and entered Washington State University where she majored in English. They were married in November 1947 and started an adventure that lasted 52 years. They raised a family of four children and led a dual life where the summers were spent at the family gold mine in Flat Alaska and the winter in the family home in Seattle, Washington. Jane was a fun loving lady whose company I enjoyed at the bridge table. Always ready for a good laugh, Jane added much joy to our bridge gatherings. She will be remembered with affection and a smile.

My condolences to the Fullerton family. Gail and Tad, my friends, were following in Jane’s footsteps with their visits to the family gold mine in Flat, Alaska. They carry on her adventuresome spirit! I am saddened I never had the honor to make her acquaintance.

You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

Jane and John were like a second family when I worked for them in Flat.
