Ida M. Dempster passed away peacefully on January 23, 2013 at the age of 97.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Harold M. Dempster.  Ida is survived by her sister, Betty Fitchner, her four children Tina Tossey, William Dempster, Ida Marie Dempster and Jane Johnson, as well as 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, all adorable.

Called “Toots” by her husband Harold, Ida surprised many by her remarkable alertness and activity to an advanced age.  She was recently crowned “Queen of Enumclaw” as the eldest active female in the community.  She loved to sew and to serve others, and still helped make free quilts for Hope Lutheran Church at age 95.  Her gravestone is inscribed with a spool of thread.

A graveside service will be held at Bonney-Watson Memorial Park, 16445 International Blvd., Seattle, Washington, on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at 2:00 p.m.

We will always remember Ida with love, respect, and admiration. She was a lovely Christian woman and made us feel good to be her friends. Its always hard to lose your Mom, but her family is fortunate to have had her for so long. There’s rejoicing in Heaven that she and Harold are reunited forever. God’s Peace to you all.

I have such fond memories of Toots and Harold – all those Kittelsen family picnics and later the Thursday lunches. She was as kind and lovely a woman as her mother Tina. When I saw the picture above I immediately saw Grandma Kittelsen! Lovely family memories.
