Irise Georgeine Neigel

December 1, 1932 - December 22, 2018

Obituary

Our loving Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother and Friend went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, December 22, 2018.

Irise, along with her twin sister, Inise were born on December 1, 1932 in Dormey, Alberta, Cananda at home. The girls were so small they fit in their father’s shoe box and stayed near the stove to stay warm.

Irise met the love of her life, Paul Neigel, when he came to pick up her twin sister for a date. Paul quickly realized that Irise was meant to be his wife. They were married on March 1st, 1952. 1953 found the couple beginning their family with Peggy arriving in 1953, Edward, 12 months later and Roger in 1957. Douglas followed in 1959 and Carol in 1964.

Paul and Irise moved into their family home in Federal Way in 1962 and it remained the family gathering place until Irise moved into assisted living in 2014, coincidentally located on the property where they originally started their family.

Irise was a truly a model wife and mother with her family being the center of her world. No matter what was going on the minute Paul walked in the door, she would drop everything and run to him with a big kiss and hug. Dinner was the family time around the table sharing the day’s events, making plans for the weekend and learning life’s lessons.

Irise’s world came tumbling down with the loss of her dear Paul on August 4, 1987 from cancer. Irise was his main caregiver from the diagnosis to death. But being of strong Norwegian stock, she slowly learned how to manage for herself with the help of family and friends.

Irise was preceded in death by her parents, George Miller and Jennie Bergstrom Miller Bennett, her siblings, Jean, George, Ted, and twin sister Inise, and her husband Paul Neigel.  Irise is survived by her children and their spouses, Peggy Panlener (James), Edward Neigel (Holli), Roger Neigel (Gabriele), Douglas (Terri), Carol Merrimen (Rob); Granchildren; Jennifer Harrison, Matthew Neigel, Ashleigh Lankford, Steven Neigel, Shawn Neigel, Abby Howard and Justin Wiseman. Great-Grandchildren, Erik Petersen, Maddox Neigel, Liam Neigel, Landry Neigel, Hadessa Harrison, Penelope Neigel and Mason Wiseman.

Paul and Irise who were meant to be sweethearts forever are today holding hands and drinking  coffee and are together forever.

In lieu of flowers, please contribute to the American Diabetes Society.
