Isidro T. dela Cruz
Isidro T. dela Cruz, 96, of Seattle, WA, after a brief illness, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2009 surrounded by his family at Highline Medical Center. He is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, Mercedes; children: Norma, Roberto, Oscar, Amelia, Rita, Lydia, Helen, and Gloria; son-in-laws: Al G., Raul, Al A., Jose and Arnold; daughter-in-laws: Gloria and Adoracion; grandchildren: Alma, Leilani, Anne-Lynn, Dolly, Rowena, Robert Jr., Mylene, Raquel, Jinky, Michael, Angelo, Joseph, Patrick, Ryan, RJ, Rachel, Lawrence, Leila, Lourdes, Tati, Katirina, and Giovanni; grandson-in-laws: Shawn, Craig, Tom, Fritz, Christopher, Jerome, and Boyet; granddaughter-in-laws: Cheryl, Michelle, Ines, and Lisa; great-grandchildren: Cassidy, Maverick, Christian, Beatrice, Joshua, Zachary, Ariel, Chantel, Beng-Beng, Mica, AJ, Aaron, Sebastian, Lauryl, and Taylor.
Isidro was born in Pampanga, Philippines on April 4, 1913. He was the third of four children of Juan and Emiliana dela Cruz. He grew up learning the value of work, family, friendships and most of all, the love of God.
He graduated as a Mechanical Engineer. He became a successful and highly respected businessman in the Philippines. He went into politics for over 20 years so he could serve and help more people.
He immigrated in Seattle in 1976 to join the rest of his family. He enjoyed working at the University of Washington for over 10 years. He soon retired and went back in the Philippines, but was cut short because he missed his large and loving family in Seattle. He quickly rejoined them.
He believed that his life belonged to others as much as it belonged to him. Throughout his life, even during his last few hours on earth, God-loving Isidro always loved and cared for his family and others. He had a big heart. He was a very generous and a peaceful man all his life, truly ‘a man with a heart of gold’. He was a devoted husband and very loving father and grandfather.
The compassion, the dignity, and the grace by which he lived his life will continue to live in our hearts and memories forever. He was the epitome of a fine gentleman. He was the light of all our lives. He will be deeply missed.
Visitation, Friday, September 11, 2009 from 4:00-8:00 PM with the Rosary at 7:00 PM both at St. Bernadette Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, September 12, 2009 at 9:30 AM at St. Bernadette, 861 SW 126th St. Seattle, WA 98146.

Papa, you mean so very much to me,
And I want you to know
That you are always in my heart,
No matter where I go.
You’re always giving, always there
To help in any way;
The loving things you’ve done for me,
I never could repay.
I can’t imagine what I’d do
Without the love you give.
I’ll treasure your sweet heart of gold
As long as I shall live.
