Obituary
Jack Boughton
Age 83, died peacefully in his home in Kent, Washington, on April 19, 2005. A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Jack was known to his friends and family as a master craftsman who could create or repair anything. During his working years, he was a skilled sheet metal worker. He also built three beautiful homes from the ground up for his growing family in his spare time. His loved ones have enjoyed many of his woodworking and furniture projects over the years. In his retirement, he generously and tirelessly helped his children, friends and neighbors repair their cars and trucks, whatever the model, and their furnaces, appliances, plumbing, roofs, wiring and anything else that needed fixing in their homes. He also devoted much of his time, energy and expertise over the last 50 years to the Kent First Church of the Nazarene, helping to build and install ductwork and furnaces in the present building. He was an active member of the congregation, served as a board member and Sunday School teacher, and always kept the church furnaces and refrigerators in good working order. He enjoyed listening to and singing opera music throughout the years, as well as attending the Opera with his dear friend Mary Stowell.
Jack died with his beloved daughters supporting him, DeDe Boughton and Julie Moritz, who provided devoted care for the past three years as his health declined. He is also survived by his son Phil Boughton, of Alexandria, Virginia, and his daughter Pam Boughton of San Francisco, California. Other beloved family members are his daughter-in-law Nadette Boughton, sons-in-law John Isola, Daryl Petrarca, and Cameron Moritz, grandchildren Art Cruz, Alleyce Cruz, Aira Boughton, Justine Isola, Kyle Mullin, Phillip Isola, Canelle Boughton, Alex Moritz, David Boughton, Katie Moritz, and Mackenzie Mullin, brother Jim Boughton and his wife Connie of Urbana, Illinois. He was a wonderful father and grandfather and provided a quietly heroic model of selflessness, integrity, and perseverance throughout his life, and inspired his loved ones with his courage and dignity in the years before he died.
Special thanks from the family go to his exceptional doctor, Dr. Ranu Choudhary and his loving caregivers, Rhonda Max, Virgilio Jean Fule, and Ana Ulloa and particularly to his steadfast friend and neighbor, Carl Baker.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, May 7th at 1:00PM at the Kent First Church of the Nazarene, 930 E. James in Kent.
