Jackie David Liam, 93, also known as Jacinta or Itang/Intang to some, died on December 8, 2023 at UW-Medicine-Valley Medical Center in Renton, Washington following a sudden illness.
Born on December 24, 1929 in Concepcion, Tarlac in the Philippines to Venancio Lacson David and Luisa Sison Magtoto. Jackie was the youngest among her five siblings. She was married to the late Benjamin Yutuc Liam, Sr. on March 10, 1949 in Mabalacat, Pampanga. They had twelve children that they raised in the Philippines. In 1980, she immigrated to the United States and resided in Seattle until the time of her passing.
Despite her lack of formal education, Jackie was an astute businesswoman and entrepreneur before moving to the United States. She engaged in reselling various items, financial lending, and managed a restaurant. Influenced by her deep faith in God, she was known for her generosity. Never one to deny someone in need, she took in family and friends and volunteered for various causes at every opportunity. She was a devout Catholic who actively participated in church activities. She was a member of the Catholic Women’s League and a parishioner at Santo Nino Parish Church in San Fernando, Pampanga. She and her late husband were also members of the Couples for Christ and attended St. Edward Catholic Church in Seattle.
Jackie was employed in environmental services at Virginia Mason Medical Center for a brief period and at Swedish Hospital until her retirement. Her passion was cooking, and she delighted in seeing people enjoy the food she prepared. She specialized in local Filipino favorites, such as tocino, longganisa, and rellenong bangus as a side gig and for her family. She also loved entertaining family and guests, growing vegetables, and raising pigs.
Through all of life’s tribulations, Jackie put a lot of effort into keeping her family together. Her memory will forever be etched in our hearts as a pious and diligent individual. She lived a life dedicated to her faith and frequently occupied herself with something meaningful. She was a great example of unwavering commitment, strong spirit, and tireless effort.
Jackie was preceded in death by her spouse Benjamin, her parents, brother Federico, sisters Magdalena, Matilde, Cristina, and Josefa; children: Andy, Christopher, Charlemagne, Diosdado, and Elizabeth, son-in-law Edel Sanchez and brother-in-law Leonardo (Corazon).
Jackie leaves behind a loving family and legacy of children and their spouses: Gloria Idanan, Myrna Ocampo, Benjamin Jr, Paul (Cora), Arizona Manliclic, Maria Luzminda, Cresencio (Liezl), (Edwin Bondoc), Susan (Ken), Lourdes (Tom), and Emmanuel (Stephanie Joy). She is also survived by her grandchildren and their spouses: Jane (Juanito), John (Arlene), James (Olivia), Annie Lou (Matthew), Jacqueline (Jonathan), Andre, Michelle (Ronnie), Christopher Jr (Jasel), Angelica (Shawn), Benjamin III (Shelley), Dennis (Catherine), Dustin, Michael (Sharissa), Aries May, April Marie, Darryl June, Dana Lee, Darwin July, Edellou (Rommel), Louie (Anna Mae), Ethel Lougie (Kyle), Chrizelda, Cresencio Jr, Christopher Anthony (Erica), Philip (Steffie), Patrick (Sarah), Edward (Veronica), Elaine (Steven), Edmond (Alyssa), Joseph, Levon (Baylee), Katherine Danielle, Kristina (Jonathan), Gabrielle, Brenden, Andrew Jordan (Sydney), Emmanuel Jr (Rayne), Emmalyn, Saverio Benjamin, Sean Dominic, Ysabella Faith, and Giovanni Dante. As well as numerous great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Teresita Lising, brother-in-law Josefino (Lita), and the entire Liam and David families
