Jackson Ng, passed away in his sleep on September 20, 2022 at age 67. He died suddenly, but peacefully at home after a nine month struggle with ALS. Jackson faced his last challenge with his customary strength and fortitude. He was born in Hong Kong where he lived until age 18 when he came to the U.S. to attend college. He met his devoted wife Joy at the University of Iowa hospital cafeteria where they worked on weekends. Joy and Jackson were happily married for 42 years. Jackson was a well-respected and admired colleague at Kaiser Permanente, his employer for decades. He was devoted to his job and will be greatly missed. Jackson was always willing to help people and accepted them for who they were. He had a kind and generous heart and optimistic nature. Jackson was a great man and friend. His early departure is a loss for us all. I met Jackson many years ago at the gym and enjoyed many rounds of racquetball and fun. I later joined Kaiser and we became colleagues too. I have enjoyed Jackson and Joys friendship for many years. I will miss the animated conversations about our many common interests. Jackson was a brilliant and I always admired how much he cared and loved his wife Joy. Rest In Peace Jackson. Your friend, Sandy

Uncle Jackson, it is still hard to believe you are gone. I wish we had more time together, to get to know one another, and for you to watch your great nephews grow up. I will always cherish our times together and for the guidance you have given me. You dealt with ALS with bravery and grace. Rest in love.

Jackson was our past neighbor, and we have continued to stay in touch with him and Joy after we moved. He had a sincere heart, was bright, and brought genuine happiness to others. We won’t forget him and will miss him.
Sincerely, the Ko family.

I knew Jackson through his wife, Joy, since Joy and I kept in touch on social media. And then they decided to visit England and we spent the day together in York. Although I met Jackson only once, I found him a lovely man; kind, generous and interested in everything and everyone. I know he’ll be missed by those who loved him and my heart breaks for Joy. Memories can be bitter sweet, but I know Joy’s memories of Jackson will keep her strong and help her live a fulfilling life in the way Jackson would have wanted.

I think we were roommates at Eastern WA College in Cheney. I remember Jackson working in the cafeteria and he had a girlfriend who was his co-worker. We weren’t close and didn’t stay in touch after I left school to return to Hawaii. But I wish he was still here so I could reconnect with him.
