Joan, You have our deepest sympathy. We miss you in AZ and would love seeing you again.
Jim & Ruth Martin
Jim and I attended Good Shepherd Grade School together in Toledo, OH.
That was 80 years ago … and we remained close friends all this time.
I will miss him dearly, but have many happy memories.
Just remmbering all our happy times here in Superstition Shadows.
Uncle Jim was just what you think an uncle should be. He had a relationship with ALL the members of his clan and was loved. We all were lucky to be on the receiving end of his wit and phone messages. Many times he’d call from the airport after one of his visits just to say goodbye with one more one-liner. In honor of you Uncle, let me start my sentence with “SAY, have you heard the one where… Uncle Jim, you will be missed!
Grandpa-
You will be missed, you are one of a kind! You are in heaven now watching down upon your family, just where you wanted to be…
Give mom a hug for us…
With Love Always, Jason, Jody, Zachary and Hayden
Uncle Jim was the kind of character authors write novels around. From a single parent depression-era,female dominated large family. Through wars, economic and family relocation, tragedy all the stories were told through his unique perspective. No doubt Jim’s Sovay siblings’ quirks and insanities except for my sainted mother, Ruth entertained many …Jim ‘s entertainment was usually deliberate, and always good natured. He came to my wedding in the wild forests of NM. He blessed many Fergusons. He has earned the Peace of the Lord.
“Well done good and faithful servant.”
Grandpa
So many fond memories you’ve left in your place,
Little seeds of wisdom laced with history, laughter and faith.
Popsicle Stick and Bottle Cap creations,
Remember when’s that were always a sensation.
Sneaky with lessons that didn’t feel like learning,
Everything you taught left all of us yearning.
For more of the antics and more of the play,
The picking and poking for as long as you’d stay.
But stay now you couldn’t, ‘twas your time to go,
One final lesson, the best of all.
Go in peace, with family, faith and love,
Seeking a home in Heaven above.
With All My Love and
Great Fondness for you Always, Grandpa,
Darbi
I will miss you!
Dear Family~ Sending prayers to all of you and keeping you close to my heart during this difficult time. Uncle Jimmy went home to be with the Lord on my Dad Harold 66th Birthday. He was a good man always full of love and laughter, he will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Sincerely, Traci
One of the all time great uncles. My daughters used to love answering the phone when Uncle Jim called. He always had some outrageous character he was playing or some outrageous situation he was acting out. One time they asked me to call Uncle Jim and have him call us back so they could answer. Uncle Jim was always ready for any adventure. Actually, any encounter with Uncle Jim was an adventure no matter how mundune the event. One time when spending the night at our house he got up to use the restroom. While he was gone our dog Patches jumped up in the bed thinking that one of my kids would soon be back in the room to cuddle with. When Uncle came back to bed he so scared Patches that the dog peed all over the sheets. Uncle was so mad he made the dog sleep on the bed and he slept on the floor. He was truly an original and one of God’s greatest cheerleaders.
I feel blessed to have had such a fun and caring uncle who could tell jokes for hours, do the Irish jig, entertain my daughters with tricks and antics and leave humorous messages on my answering machine. We will all miss Uncle Jim but know he is at peace with the Lord. Love and sympathy to Aunt Joan and all of my cousins. Wish we could be there with you.
I will miss you and your cute smile.I know you are happy to be with our Lord and in a better place. Until we meet again hopefully R.I.P. with love…
The LORD whispered “Peace be Thine”
Godspeed, Jim.
Jim will be missed by many. Here in Az., everyone loved his jokes. I have only known him a few years, but it felt like longer. He was a very kind man. Bless his family for being with him the last few days. I know he was enjoying that very much. God Bless all of you.
