Obituary
James A. Washington, Sunrise December 2, 1938, in Plain Dealing, Louisiana, Sunset November 16, 2008. He was the oldest son of Lessie B. and Coleman Washington. James grew up in Plain Dealing, Louisiana where he attended Carrie Martin High School.
His family relocated to Seattle, and united with Progressive Missionary Baptist Church. Later, James joined St. Matthew Missionary Baptist Church, where he remained a member until his death.
James’ career included services as a Merchant Marine Personnel in Vietnam. He also worked at the Boeing Aircraft Company and as an instructor of construction skills for at-risk youth at South Seattle Community College. He was Director of the Contractor’s Resource Center until his health prevented him from continuing, as well as many major commercial & residential construction projects in Eastern and Western Washington.
James leaves to cherish his memory, brothers: Gene Washington Mary, Bobby Ray Washington Bonnie and Troy Washington; the mother of his children: Mary Ann Washington; children: Kathy McAllister, Ronald Washington, and Mirenda White, Dallas, Texas. ; Grandchildren: Jason Swinney Savannah, Nakisha Swinney, Lakisha Washington Rene and Damian Washington; great grandchildren: Deanore Swinney, Janiyah Swinney, Brielle Cook and Dai Droion Swinney and a devoted companion of many years, Pamela Kilgore; two step sons Mark Kilgore Shay and Shawn Kilgore Deborah.
He was also a very special ‘PaPa Jim’ to Ashley, Amber, Shamel, Andrew, Kayla Nance Kilgore & Jamal, Espie, Dajeanne, Desiree, Deon & BijanWashington.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2008 at 5:00 pm at Bonney-Watson Washington Memorial, 1732 Broadway Seattle, WA 98122 206322-0013
To Mirendamy beloved niece and the entire Washington family my thoughts and prayers goes out to you and your family during this difficult time. I met James once and I find him to be a nice and interesting person.
I had not seen Coleman in over 50 years, but it was good for my soul to see him again at the reunion. I never gave thought that it would be my last time. Family be content that he is at rest. Hope to see the brothers at the reunion 7/31/09.
We will miss you Uncle Jim. Thank you for all the great times and memories. We love you!! John, Weslynnn, Joharri, Jameaca, John Jr., and Jerrell.
