Obituary
James was born in Grambling, LA on June 5, 1940 and was called to glory on March 23, 2009 in Seattle, WA.
His Legacy: To make a better life for his family James moved from Grambling, LA to Seattle, WA to work a the Boeing Co. in the early 1960’s. He was able to buy a home after only six months; the house is now occupied by his son and grandson. He later left Boeing company and went to work for the Washington Natural Gas. Co.
His greatest accomplishments: He was a devoted husband and a father that wanted the best for his family. There was nothing too good for his family. He would help out any family member that he knew needed help! His greatest accomplishment was that he defied all the doctors’ odds and survived more than forty years of illness.
Thank you for teaching us the value of caring and giving, but most of all how to love our children as you did!
He is survived by his wife, Ivory Lee Tate, son, Charlie Tate, daughters, Vivian N. Tate-Swoopes and Lonia Tate, grandson Starling Tate, brothers, Claude and Willis Tate, sisters, Iva Carson, Ruth Alexander and Martha Webster and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and friends.
Dad,
We miss you. We hope you and Kizzy are having fun running through the buttercup fields together. Someday, we’ll see each other again.
Love ya!
Although I cannot claim to have known Mr. Tate personally, everything his daughter told me led me to understand that he deeply loved his wife and kids, and took especial delight in his little granddaughter Kizzy. I hope his family can draw some comfort at the idea of them together now. To be a loving and protective father and grandfather is a wonderful legacy.
Mr.Tate will truely be missed. He was a very special person. My preys are with the family. May the stenght of the Lord & your family & friends help you though this very trying time. With Deepest Sympathy, Eileen
