James ''Harry'' Henry O'Hara

April 17, 1921 - August 18, 2004

Obituary

James Henry “Harry” O’HARA

Jennifer’s loving husband, died on August 18, 2004.

Harry was born in Renfrew Scotland on April 17, 1921. At the age of five, he and his family moved to Fort McMurray, Alberta. In 1939, he joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and served as a bomber pilot during the war while stationed in England. Following the war, he returned to Canada and eventually moved to Australia in 1958. He married in 1966 and finally moved to Seattle in 1968, where he has primarily resided ever since. Aviation Technology & Resources, the aviation parts business that he founded shortly after his arrival in Seattle, just celebrated its 25th anniversary.

Harry was a very caring and selfless soul who never stopped giving to others. He had an uncanny ability to recite from memory almost any poem he had ever read. From the time he first saw the bush pilots in northern Canada, he developed a love for flying and aircraft. He thereafter remained involved in the aviation business for over sixty years. He told great stories and not always so great jokes. He was exceedingly charming and possessed a deep and beautiful sounding voice. A dinner with Harry usually concluded with a serving of ice cream or pie too large to finish. Harry was handsome and dressed in a jacket and tie nearly every day no matter what the occasion. He brought great joy to his family and friends. He was a true gentlemen by any standard who would still stand when a lady came to the table. Harry would never quit.

He will be sorely missed by all and is survived by his wife Jennifer, his sister Evelyn, his daughter Loree, his son Timothy, his daughter-in-law Donna, his grandchildren Beau, Dylan, Desiree, and young James Thomas and loved nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, August 26, 2004 at 11:00 AM at Bonney-Watson Parker Chapel, 900 SW 146th St. Burien 206 244-2320.

Ann and I are sorry to hear of Harry’s passing and want to extend our condolences.

I remember many times when Harry helped out our Scout troop and other times where he offered some very good advice.

I was deeply saddened by Harry’s passing. I remember the first time I met him; I was very intrigued by his stories, his demeanor, his kindest. It reminded me of bieng home in the south, with the slow pace, and how he always wanted to spend time and talk with you. Business is important, but building a good customer relationship seemed to be the first priority. His voice was very recognizable on the phone and he would always forget who I was by name, but he would ask, “Where’s the doll lady?” and I would quickly remind him he was talking to him. Of course we would laugh. I am going to miss him and doing business with him. He really was truly an asset to the aviation business. God bless him and his loved ones.
