James Russell Brisendine

Feb 17, 1929 - Jan 24, 2020

James “Jim” Russell Brisendine, 90, passed away January 24, 2020  in Edmonds, Washington.  His faith brought him strength and we know he is now reunited with his dear wife Rene’ and son Russell.

Jim was born to Marion Claude and Minnie Lee Brisendine in Dallas, Texas on February 17, 1929. The family moved to Pacific Beach, CA in 1938.  He graduated from La Jolla High School.  His electrical career started as an inspector for San Diego County. He married Rene’ Flanders on May 29, 1952 in Las Vegas, Nevada, after meeting at a company Christmas party.

In 1964, the family moved from El Cajon to Granite Falls, Minnesota and Jim started his own electrical contracting company, Falls Electric.  In 1984, Jim followed Russ to Seattle to start a new career as a union electrician.  After his retirement in December of 1996, he started another career with Eagle/Lowe’s Hardware, retiring at age 87.  He earned many accolades for his knowledge of the electrical industry and friendliness.

Jim was a collector of friends, never having met a stranger. He was always ready with a quick quip and a willing participant in a healthy conversation. In his spare time, Jim maintained a beautiful yard in Ballard and created the best looking garden at his condo in Edmonds.

Jim leaves behind daughter Rene’ M. Brisendine of Edmonds, WA, son Steve (Jane) of Spicer, Minnesota, grandchildren, Jennifer (Jaime), Jeremy (April), Cameron (Angela), Christopher (Maggie), Becky (Andy), Stacy (Michael), James and Seth and great-grandchildren Sierra, Tyler, Tanner, Austin, Amelia, Olivia, Brody and Ryker.  Jim was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Rene’, and son Russ.

There will be a funeral mass at St. Thomas More with interment immediately following at Holyrood Catholic Cemetery in Shoreline.  A reception will follow at The Nile Golf Club.   The family thanks you for your prayers and thoughtfulness. Our thanks also go to Sunrise of Edmonds for their compassion and love, and Evergreen Health Hospice Care.  Memorial donations In Lieu of Flowers may be made in Jim’s memory to Seattle Children’s Hospital and Research Foundation.
