Obituary
In Loving Memory of James Michael Magee James (Jimmy) Michael Magee, age 77, passed away peacefully on July 30, 2021 after suffering a massive stroke. He was surrounded by his family at the time of his passing. Jimmy is survived by his wife, Charlotte Magee, and her two children that he raised as his own: Katie Dillon and Crissy Johnson, his three grandchildren Tessa Sunderland, Robert Eugene Johnson IV, and Torry Ann Johnson. He also had three great-grandchildren: Elijah Johnson, Kade Sunderland and Kinley Sunderland. After 40+ years, Jimmy was recently united with his children from a prior relationship: Jeff Olson, Jeanne Wilt, Jamie Watson and Jennifer Fowlds. On his 77th birthday, he had the opportunity to FaceTime with Jeff and see him as an adult for the first time, which made him very happy. |
Jimmy lived in the White Center/West Seattle area for most of his life. After he retired, he then moved to Dayton, Washington. He loved the Seattle Seahawks and watched them religiously. If you could not watch the Seahawk game, fear not, because he would call you with every big play, turnover, or score. No matter where we were or what we were doing, he would always call. Jimmy loved his hard pops, tall boys of Bush beer, and candy. His favorites were chocolate candy and hard candy, particularly the raspberry filled hard candy that only comes out at Christmas. He loved wrestling. He would routinely sit on the couch eating his sunflower seeds while watching WWE wrestling. Jimmy loved his animals. Over the years he enjoyed: BJ McClusky, Chico Pico, Momma Cocoa, Blondie, Trouble, his horse Dixie, that he never did ride, but he told everyone how smooth her trot was. In fact, Matt Marrese decided to test that trot and Dixie went ahead and decided to throw him off instead.
Jimmy has been described by many as being a “Legend.” He was known for his dance that my husband termed “the Jimmy.” He could do this dance to anything from disco, country, rock, New Orleans Jazz. Once he had a little liquor in him and a good song came on, he would start doing “the Jimmy.” If nobody would do it with him, he would do it with my dogs: Austin, KoKo and Bella. We took Jimmy to New Orleans for his 70th birthday and he became obsessed with everything New Orleans. When I offered him a trip to Nashville, he turned me down because it was not New Orleans. He acted like he was a cranky old man, but he had such a good heart. He touched many lives and will be truly missed by his family and friends.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life Service to honor Jimmy on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Bonney Watson, 16445 International Blvd., SeaTac, WA 98188. A reception will be held in honor at Pat and Katie’s house: 13313 SE 195th Street, Renton, WA 98058.
It was my honor to know you, Jimmy. You were loved by many and will be missed.
I met Jimmy once and I wish I had the opportunity to sit a while longer to get to know him better. Good for me, I work with his daughter Katie and she filled me in. He seemed liked a wonderful, full of laughter kinda guy. I’m sure you’re up there teaching those heavenly angles how to do the ‘Jimmy Dance’. Rest in peace, Jimmy and may God hold you in the palm of His Mighty arms.
