Obituary

James R Pearson

April 18, 1924 to July 13, 2012

Born to John and Arwilda Pearson  in Imperial County, California.

Jim graduated from High School in Newport Beach, CA in 1942 and soon after joined the Navy.  He worked his way into the officer ranks raising to the level of Lieutenant, serving in the Korean War as well as the very end of WWII. While stationed in Japan he met and married his wife Meiko.  After marriage they relocated to Washington State. Living in Seattle since 1958, Jim went on to complete BS and MS degrees in Civil Engineering while working full time and raising his young family.  He worked 22 years for the Puget Sound Air Pollution Control Agency (PSAPCA), the last 10 as Chief of Engineering.  In 1999 he wrote and published a book Reducing the Averages, a history of the founding and development of the PSPCA.  Earlier in life he was an avid runner—taking up the sport long before “trendy”.  He enjoyed weekend getaways to the family’s beach-front cabin on Vashon Island, loved skiing, and as a member of the Seattle Mountaineers, climbed significant local peaks including Mt Rainier and Mt Adams. He joins his wife Meiko, who preceded him in death in 2007. He leaves behind his children, Jackie and Ron; grandson, Eric; and brother, Richard (Betty) and dear friends. Jim truly lived a live full of accomplishments and successes and is most certainly another shining example of “the greatest generation”.

A celebration of Jim’s life will be held Sunday, July 22, 2012 at 2:00PM at Washington Memorial Park 16445 International Blvd. SeaTac, WA 98188.  Memorial services to be performed by Bonney-Watson.

May the family of James Pearson find comfort in your loving memories, and in knowing that God is “near to those that are broken at heart; and those who are crushed in spirit he saves.” (Psalm 34;18) While grief at the loss of James is great, joy at welcoming him back in the resurrection will be greater. (Mark 5;42) With deepest sympathy,
