Obituary

On June 13, 2024, after ninety-one wonderful years here on earth, Jane has left us to be with her Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ. She was born in Connellsville, Pennsylvania on September 16, 1932, the daughter of Walter Brakeall and Kathleen Graffious.

Jane was graduated from Westminster College in 1954 with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. While attending Westminster she served as the president of her Sigma Kappa sorority and captained the college cheer leading team. After college, she taught challenged youngsters in a sheltered workshop sponsored by the Pennsylvania Association for Retarded Children.

Jane married Paul Boyce on December 10, 1955. They have two sons, Jeff, 1960 and Les 1964. Jane leaves five grandchildren: Alex, Rachel, Les, Andrew, and Adrianna; and six great grandchildren: Bailey, Blake, Noah, Brooks, Jaxson and Walker. She also leaves two brothers: Harry Miller (Jan) and William Brakeall (deceased).

In the early years of her marriage, Jane was deeply engaged in public service. As the president of the Titusville Florida Junior Woman’s Club, she and a group of dedicated young women made the difference in the lives of many families in that community. She was honored for her work in 1972 when the Orlando Sentential newspaper named her, Brevard County Woman of the Year.

Returning to Washington state in 1973, she continued her public service through the international Bible Study Fellowship program, serving as the Federal Way, Teaching Leader for twenty years. Jane was also active in her church serving as a councilor and Bible teacher. In recent years, she has dedicated her extensive scriptural knowledge and love for the Lord to small group Bible study. As a result of Jane’s engagement in Christian service, she has touched the lives of scores of women who in turn have touched the lives of countless more…many have become her lifelong friends.

Jane’s most cherished role was that of wife and mother. Her family was the joy of her life. Beginning with her husband and sons, then her precious grandchildren and great grandchildren, Jane leaves family, friends and acquaintances knowing that a reunion is promised in heaven one day…. Until then she asks God to bless and care for each one.

A private service was recently held in the National Cemetery in Kent, Washington. A public memorial service at her church is planned at a future date. Details will be published in the press and on Facebook.
