Obituary

Jean Marie Headley of Tacoma, WA passed away peacefully at the age of 89, on January 18, 2019.  She was born on November 28, 1929 to Charles and Marie Terry (Grigsby).

Jean was independent and self-reliant and worked most of her life.  She first began working at the local movie theatre booth in Yakima,WA.  Later she moved to Seattle, WA and worked for Pacific Northwest Telephone Company, whom used a photo of her on display at the Seattle World’s Fair in 1962.  Later she began working for the local Water District #20 and eventually was the Office Manager until she retired in 1992. 

She spent her later years traveling in the motor home until landing in Yuma AZ as a snowbird.   She was an avid knitter and enjoyed knitting for her family as well as making Afghan blankets and hats for the local missions and shelters, in addition to hats for preemie’s.

Jean was a member of the Professional Business Women’s group of Seattle, WA and the Red Hat Society of Yuma, Arizona.

Jean is survived by her son’s Daniel Grout of Port Orchard, WA., Steve Headley (Susan) of Burien, WA., Jerry Headley (Karen) of Union, WA., and daughter Sally Sweigart (Scott) of Tacoma, WA.  She had 10 grandchildren, 22 Great-grandchildren, and 2 Great-Great-grandchildren.

A celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 2nd at 2:00pm at 5214 Galleon Dr NE, Tacoma, WA.  98422.

What a sweetheart she was. My memories are all in Yuma where we shared Red Hat sisterly love. Blessings to all of her family.
