Jeane Marie Longson
February 1, 1946 - April 6, 2022
Obituary
On April 6, 2022, Jeane Marie Longson passed away peacefully after a brief illness. Jeane was born and raised in South Seattle and lived her entire life in the Central and South Puget Sound regions. She once worked in finance and accounting, but focused on her role as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother later in life.
Above everything Jeane was a mother and a caregiver to many people – to her family, to her friends, and to nearly anyone that asked her for help. She cared deeply for the wellbeing of others. She often took people in to support them in times of trouble. She did this not out of obligation, but simply because that was who she was – always the first to offer assistance. Her needs and personal goals were secondary to those she cared about and nurtured.
She had a considerable intellect. She was keenly interested in domestic and global affairs, often having long conversations with her youngest son regarding current political and social issues at home and abroad as well offering possible solutions.
Jeane is survived by her sons John and Dale, her daughter-in-law Caroline, her granddaughter Anna, who she selflessly took on the role of mothering her when she was just an infant, Anna’s partner Chris, her grandson Weston, her great-granddaughter Alexandra, and her nephew Scott. She will be laid to rest next to her beloved eldest son Craig.
A memorial service will occur at the Bonney-Watson Funeral Home (16445 International Boulevard, Seattle, WA 98188), on Sunday, May 22nd, starting at 11am. If you were close to Jeane and want to honor her life, please attend.
