Jennie was born in Wakefield, Michigan to John and Hannah Tyni on July 8, 1908. She Married Herman Schnack on August 21, 1926. He passed away on December 11, 1965 after 36 years of marriage. Jennie considered herself fortunate to marry a second time to a special friend Harry Evenson on May 26, 1973. He passed away November 5, 1983.

She is survived by her children Geraldine Mike Slereth, Shirley Lonnie Fisher, Betty Steinmeyer, Elaine Jesse Underwood, Marilyn Cloy Sykes, Clifford Schnack, Stewart Ann Schnack and one sister Julia Ahlquist and sister-in-law Olga Autio. She was preceded in death by two of her children, her son Herman Schnack and daughter Jeannette Weiske.

Jennie Spent her adolescent years in Wakefield, Michigan where she was active in the church playing the mandolin and violin. She was the oldest of 6 children and upon her father passing from the flu epidemic in 1918 Jennie helped her mother raise her siblings with the small county stipend, family garden and the money raised by taking in laundry. Jennie’s first job was working in the Wakefield Bakery and being a chore girl.

At the age of 18 she married Herman..Schnack a young logger and mechanic and as hard times fell they decided to move their young family westward to Seattle. They both secured employment with Pullman Company, and Jennie work at the Fish Cannery and the shipyards. Eventually Jennie was content to handle the matters of the home with the growing Schnack family. This is where she found her niche; as a wife, mother and grandmother.

Jennie was a charter member of Our Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church and remained an active member most of her adult life. Jennie had a love and rare talent of crocheting, her family and friends were always the beneficiaries of Jennie’s creative talent. She was very proud of the several ribbons she won at the Evergreen State Fair displaying her crocheted pieces. She and Herman enjoyed camping and fishing at the ocean. Later Harry and Jennie enjoyed their bowling leagues and she enjoyed swimming with her sisters Julia and Alma

Jeqnie will be remembered for being a remarkably kind and loving person with a sense of humor that was second to none. She had a way of making every person feel they were very special. Her family extended five generations and many acquaintances were taken in by the lovely spirit of ”Grandma Jennie – Me Grandma”. Even in the last chapter of her life, Care providers commented on how special a person she was. This world lost a very special angel today, though God really blessed all of us with such a very special soul of our Grandma Jennie

A special thanks from the family to the many care takers at Josephine Suites for the excellent care; love and consideration that has been extended to Jennie and our family as we walked this final journey with her.
