Obituary
Jo Ann (Evans) Hinman, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away on October 2, 2023, at the age of 81 in Normandy Park, WA. She was born in 1942, in Big Rock, Illinois, to Mark and Lucille Evans. Jo Ann will be remembered for her unique and fun-loving personality, her passion for collecting all things, and her love for engaging conversations. She truly cherished great times with her family and friends and always aimed to bring joy to their lives.
Jo Ann is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Dwayne Hinman, daughter Kimberly Abrott (Tim), son Kyle Hinman, granddaughter Kayla Keckritz (Lance), grandson Evan Abrott (Kara), and great granddaughter Elodie Keckritz. She was preceded in death by her sister Deanna Marcille Howe.
After graduating with high honors from the University of Montana with a BA in Elementary Education, Jo Ann embarked on a fulfilling career as a second-grade teacher. However, she considered being a stay-at-home Mom as her true life’s work. She later served many rewarding years as Office Manager at Burien’s Seahurst Elementary.
Jo Ann had a zest for adventure. She and Dwayne traveled extensively in the United States and visited Norway, England, France, Italy, Netherlands, Greece, Turkey, Austria, Germany, Hungary, Russia, Japan, Cambodia, South Korea, Singapore, China, Australia, New Zealand, Bora Bora, Tahiti, Marquesas Islands, Puerto Rico, Caribbean Islands, Panama, Costa Rica, Columbia, Mexico, and Grenada. She also had a deep appreciation for musical theater, dance, movies, and concerts.
Jo Ann Hinman will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Her vibrant spirit, love for life, and dedication to her family and community will forever remain in our hearts.
