Obituary

John A. Jack Nelson

A life long Federal Way resident, Jack died February 20, 2005 at the age of 75. He was born October 16, 1929 in Auburn, WA and graduated from Federal Way High School in 1947. While in the Army, Jack was stationed in Japan during the Korean War. After a few years driving a city bus, Jack spent his 35 year career at Boeing. He retired from management in 1991. The love of Jack’s life was Jeannette Roark. Together, they raised four children; Sharon, Don, Jim, and Tim. He liked fishing, especially for salmon with his late brother Richard on Puget Sound. Jack enjoyed many years of membership in the Auburn Elks Lodge, where he developed some life long friends. Jack served in several leadership roles including chairman of the board. Although he enjoyed many activities and interests, Jack’s main joy was his family. Jack is survived by his wife of 48 years Jeannette, sister Marjorie Klotz, four children, and eight grandchildren. We both worked several years with John, Facilities related jobs at Boeing, and have great memories of social times also. John’s respect for others always came through in his work ethics as well as personal functions. We are saddened to hear of his death and send prayers for his family as they adjust to not having such a wonderful family member with them. The memories of the many great times shared with John will help us all during this initial time as well as in the future.

I will always remember Jack pruning his apple trees when we were kids, and making him crazy when we took off in the old station wagon as teens! So many good memories of him thru all these years, he was my 2nd Dad. I am glad I saw him and all of you the previous week. Sorry I couldn’t be there for the service, but was thinking of all of you. With deepest sympathy,

Karla, Kevin and Brian Schraum
