We will miss John’s unique personality. Being called ‘Sweetheart’ etc. by John while taking an order was a part of him. Our thoughts are with the family.

Johnny had more passion for his work than anyone I can think of. He had a strong presence and a friendly, mildly gruff manner. I think he considered me a perennial rookie. I’ll feel a little empty in Forest Grove next month when he’s not there to give me a bit of good-natured ribbing. My condolences to family and friends that loved him.

I loved John. He was such a giving man with a heart of gold. I wish I could have gone to the service but I’m receiving chemo therapy at the same time.

What a character – one of those people who could *never* be forgotten! I’ll miss the cajun accent, the jokes and how he handled everything with a laugh. “Darlin” we’ll miss ya . . .

I met Johnny in 1989 while working at Flynn Rainbow Nurseries. He scared me at first, but it didn’t take long for that charm of his to kick in, and he quickly became & remained one of my dearest friends. Hard working, generous, loyal & loud-just a few of his qualities. I loved him, I miss him, and I am better for have knowing him.

Sincere condolences to John’s family.

Big John was a dear friend who will be missed greatly. His sense of humor, integrity and that big ol’ laugh of his were just part of his essence.

I’m honored to have known him and will miss his visits down to San Diego. Keep the gumbo warm on the stove up there Mac!
