Obituary
John Houston Serrett, born May 11, 1922 in St. Charles, LA., passed away peacefully on April 16th, 2016.
After his Marine Corps service, he spent most of his life in the Seattle and Burien area with his much loved wife of 66 years , Florence ‘Sue’ Serrett (1927 to 2011).
A proud union carpenter his whole working life, John worked for Traverso and Ferguson construction companies, among others in his long career. John was known as ‘Johnny’ by most of his co-workers and known as ‘Houston’ by many of his southern relative, perhaps to distinguish him from his father, also named John.
Though he rarely spoke of his military service, he was a purple heart WWII veteran. John and Sue loved animals and birds, whether they be tame or wild. John had a way with animals and owned many cats, dogs and horses over his lifetime. This included a big pinto named Tex that he had as a boy, and which he remembered fondly his whole life. In later years, he enjoyed the companionship of two cats, his very sweet calico named Georgie Girl and the big orange kitty named Chester. (That’s Chester taking a nap with John.)
He is survived by his brother Stonewell Serrett of Zachery LA, and sisters Sybil Ainsworth of Denim Springs, LA and Florence Hobgood of Baton Rouge, LA. And by his children, Sandra Serrett of Shelton WA; Janice Krueger (h.Delynn) of Burien, WA; Gary Serrett (w. Gina) of Burien, WA: Connie Revis(h.Steve) of Des Moines, WA; and by his granddaughters Carly Darcher (h.Andy) of Des Moines WA and Lindsay Serrett of Burien WA.
Condolence to your family
