John Mathews
John (Jack) Mathews passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on May 15th at age 90.
Born January 30, 1928 in South Park, he attended Franklin High School. He travelled the world while serving in the Merchant Marines, then worked as a seaman piloting many ferries and ships. He went on to become a longshoreman and retired in 1992.
Jack is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Rosegene.
Jack is joyfully remembered by his six children, John (Jonah), Marijane, Tom (Brigitte), Margoan (Jim), Monica (Gary) and Stuart (Debbi), his nine grandchildren Sean, Aaron, Riley (Allison), Jessica (Dylan), Jake, Alyson, Emily, Caitlyn and Griffin, one great grandchild, Gavin and one of his many beloved dogs Zoe. He was preceded in death by his infant son, Mark.
Jack loved fishing, family weekends at the cabin, road trips in his RV, and the Seahawks. He will be greatly missed as a husband, father, Grampa and Papa.
A service will be held at St. Thomas Catholic Church on Wednesday, May 23rd at 11:00 am, 4415 S. 140th St., Tukwila. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Northwest Harvest at northwestharvest.org<http://northwestharvest.org>.
