John ''Jack'' O. Baever

Obituary

John Jack Baever was born and raised in Racine, Wisconsin until he was 14. The family moved to Troy, Idaho. He worked on farms during the summertime & helped the family farm. In 1950 the air force was the first

Choice but the army took him for three years. Alaska was the station for 2.5 years as a telephone lineman. Fishing in the state occupied most of his idol time. He fell in love with the state of Alaska.

He married in 1954, Spokane Wa. To Lois Baever. They moved to Thompson Falls, Mont. The work of choice was running the green chain feeder to the saw mill. Then moved on to cat skinning in the woods. In 1964 a slip on the cat track broke his neck & cost a year of work. This also forced a change of work.

The move to Des Moines, Wa was in 1965. He worked as a transformer wirer then a sign builder. Last was a Quarter men for Todd shipyard until 1983 when he was forced to medically retire. This lead to 23 years of being a stay at home dad and cook.

John fished or hunted every opportunity there was. This would lead to standing on a river bank or floating in a boat on Puget Sound. Pheasants & ducks flew in fear of his shotgun, with Elk and Deer hot on there heals. This lead to many great meals at the house.

He was preceded in passing by both parents and brother Don. He is survived by his wife Lois, 2 sons Richard wife Dorothy, & Bruce wife Jean, Baever & one daughter Trudy Briggs. He was blessed with 7 Grand children and 5 Great Grand children. There are 5 sisters Beverly Payne, Sharon Apeland, Arlene Heale, Verna Swanstrom, & Delores Lyons.

Dear Lois and Family,

We send our sympathy to each of you at the loss of Jack. We have been friends for 40 years and I too will miss Jack very much. He was a great guy, always there for me over the years. May your memories comfort you now in your time of need.
