John always was able to bring a smile to people’s faces including mine or a laugh with his easy going manner and humor. I will miss his phone calls and emails from out of the blue. Our days at OppenheimerFunds were filled with lots of laughs and I will never forget his great pictures of his kids that he used in all his presentations. May God’s peace be with him and his family.

I did not know Mr. Ewalt but was reading the New York Times obituary this morning and felt the need to express my thoughts to his family. I hope and pray that his life will remain with you during this difficult time and may God bless you all, Respectfully Yours, George William Kavanagh
I was so sorry to hear of John’s passing. John and I worked very closely together during my years at the Oppenheimer Funds. I was his connection to the home office. He was a coach and mentor to me. I will always remember how he used to make me feel coming into work on a Monday morning. Always cheerful and upbeat, he would always take the time to ask me how things were going in my personal life and try not to take the task at hand too seriously. I remember visiting John in his home state of Washington while I worked at Oppenheimer. He was very gracious. I had a chance to meet Lisa and his children. They were most hospitable. It had been a while since John and I have spoken but I think of him every now and then to get me through the rough patches at the office. Thanks for being a friend and a part of my life.
With Utmost Sympathy,

John represented with great gusto, the Oppenheimer group to me as a financial advisor.
I truly looked forward to having him come in, or hearing him speak at a conference. I will always recall a time when, as he was walking to the podium to do a quick presentation, he said tongue in cheek, “Three minutes is hardly enough time to both talk about OUR companies many positives while slandering the competition”.
I got to golf with him more than once, and I can honestly say I enjoyed every minute I ever spent with John. I know too, how much he loved his family…pictures of his children were often part of his presentation…John was a shining example of a good man. DC
John was a long time client who became a close acquaintance. I’ll always remember how much he loved all his children and had pictures at the ready; ‘may your father’s love continue to guide and shelter you, and may your lasting love for him help heal your grieving hearts’. The Lord has called him home. And Lisa, ‘The main thing in one’s own private world is to try to laugh as much as you cry.’ Linda ~
Every so often we are privileged to work with an individual who inspires us in truly meaningful ways. John’s ability reach people in very personal and fundamental ways was such a man. He will be sorely missed, but his influence and mark shall remain through the telling of his stories and adventures.
Godspeed John.
Dear Ewalt Family,

I haven’t been at OFS very long, so I didn’t have the pleasure of meeting John, but I wish I had. From all accounts, John was an excellent example of an interesting, intelligent, caring human being, which we seem to be in dreadfully short supply of these days. His contribution to the human race will be sorely missed.
My heartfelt prayers go out to your family. i work in the top producers department here at oppenheimer and had the pleasure of working with John over the years. he will be missed… Vickie McFadden
My Wife Jill and I send out condolences to you in Johns passing. Jill and I both have worked at Oppy since 1994 and have been reminiscing about the legend John Ewalt became in our company and within our industry.
One of his greatest ideas that I have taken from him was including family pictures in office presentations. It makes a difference when reps think of you as more than just a blue suit salesman.
Rest in peace

I use to babysit for John and his sister, both well behaved children. It is eerie how John looked so much like his dad. John was a great kid, always minded and willing to help in anyway he could. I lost tracked of him after he left LC but I thought of the family so often. I am sure he will be greatly missed by all. God Bless and Keep you all in his arms.
Our prayers go out to the family, this loss has been very hard for my sister and her children. We hope that she knows that we will always be there to help in any way that we can.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family! I wish we’d had the chance to know John better but I’m sure he will be dearly missed by you all.
What a good man!
You will be missed by all! They dont get much Better..
To June and Caroline and John’s family,
John and I shared many happy memories in our high school years at LC. He was such a good person with a crazy personality! We dated for a year in High School which included many dances, prom, games and the whole nine yards. In the summer it was all about skiing on the slalom course that he set up on the lake. He was going to be the mext world champion water skier!!! I am so sorry that I have not talked to him in oh so many years, he will always have a special place in my heart!
You are all in my thoughts and prayers! God bless
Peggy
John will be missed. He was a part of our school community. John enjoyed tutoring students and sharing his vast knowledge with both students and staff. His great respect for education resounded in his voice and his willingness to help any student in need.
John…you will be missed. May you rest in peace with a renewed and strong body.
God Bless

I had the pleasure and opportunity to spent a lot of time with John from 5/2002 to 4/2004. During that time I was on disability as was John playing many rounds of golf together while he smoked those big cigars. In the off season we would share a class of wine and just talk like all good friends would. I left the area moving to Florida and lost touch with John only to regret not sharing his last moments.I always felt his presents and always felt a comfort just knowing John would be there if ever needed. He was that type of person. John was a true friend. Now there is a void that will never be replaced by such a loving and caring man as John.
May God have mercy on his soul.
