Obituary
Jonathan Dale Moody was born April 25, 1953 in Laurence, Kansas. The oldest child of Glen and Juanita Moody. He was preceded in death by his brother Mark Moody, his father Glen and his Mother Juanita. Jon passed away on July 30, 2021. He had family and friends at his bedside.
Jon Moody had an adventurous life. He tells that early on he left home and began driving for a moonshiner. His dad eventually caught up with him and insisted that he go back to school. This put an end to Jon’s early bootlegging career, but his experience sparked a keen interest in making strong cars stronger and fast cars faster. Soon after, his uncle bought an Aeronca Champ airplane, and Jonathon Moody learned to fly. Jon’s love of flight was a defining force his entire life. He had a pilot’s license before a driver’s license, and in his lifetime, he racked up 1,485 hours of flight time in single engine planes. Jon joined the Air Force and ended up at Tan Son Nhut Air Base in South Vietnam. He perfected his mechanical skills while working on airplanes. Like many Veterans, Jon could quote the months, days, and hours of his time in Vietnam. He was glad to come back to the states and was stationed with the 318th at McCord Airbase. Jon met and married Patricia Loffler. They raised their two children, Darwin and Jody Moody while living in Palm Dale, California, The Dalles, OR, and finally Washington State. Jon earned his power-plant license and some of his notable experiences include working on the B1 bomber (before the public knew there was such a plane), and flying the F106. He even had the once-in-a-lifetime chance to take a flight close to the edge of the atmosphere in the SR71. He enjoyed flying to inspect power lines and as a crops duster – anything to put him in the air. In Washington, he got started at Boeing as a mechanic. He moved quickly into inspection, due in part to his unique experiences and skill.
When his children were grown, he and his wife Patricia parted ways. He continued to work at Boeing, becoming a rigging and functional test inspector. It was on the 757 production line that he met Patti Chouery. They were married in 2003. Their life together was filled with fun. They enjoyed NASCAR races, taking weekend trips in their little camper van, visiting flight museums, and volunteering to restore the PT boat in Oregon. Jon loved activity, he tried his hand at playing baseball, car racing, golf, rock climbing, fishing, boating, archery, shooting, hunting for big game and birds, flying model airplanes, star-gazing and restoring classic cars. Jon had all the best toys.
Jon is survived by: (wife) Patti Chouery (son) Darwin Moody, (daughter) Jody Moody, (grandchildren) Hailey, Miracle, Colin, Airianna, Jonathan, and other step-children and step-grandchildren. Jon is also remembered by his Brother David Moody, and sisters Sherry McCallister, and Melody Moody.

John and Patty were neighbors for a short time. Both are friendly and beautiful people. John helped me when Dennis had an allergic reaction and passed out face first in his dinner plate. John had amazing stories. There was never a dull moment with John. He lived and experienced what the world had to offer enjoying most the beauty of Gods creation.
It’s good when someone has a passion in life. You’ll have to tell me about the PT boat.
Always knew he was amazing, behind that “shy” smile. Enjoyed our time with him.
