Obituary

Jose Antolin Banez, age 89, peacefully passed away Wednesday, March 13, 2013 surrounded by his family. Jose is survived by his wife of 58 years, Matilde Banez; daughters, Lila Chin (Gary) and Evelyn Jackson (Anthony); son Joselito Banez (Dana); eight grandchildren, Melissa and Joshua Chin; Mikhail, Danon, Jared and Rachel Jackson; Emily and Nicholas Banez. He is also survived by siblings, Carmen, Rudy, Espin, Elma and Arthur. He was preceded by sisters Estefania and Adelina.
Jose has a Master’s in Education and was a well respected educator in Santa Maria, Ilocos Sur, Philippines. He immigrated to the U.S. in 1972 and continued his interest in education and retired from the Educational Service District of Puget Sound in 1992. He was a longtime Board of Trustee to the Son’s and Daughter’s of Sta. Maria Inc. and participated at many community events as a member of the Baranggay Chorale group. Jose was a veteran of the armed services in WWII. Viewing will be held on Tuesday, March 19 from 2-5 pm, Rosary will be held on Tuesday, March 19 at 7:00 pm at BONNEY-WATSON Capitol Hill, 1732 Broadway, Seattle, WA. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 20 at 10:00 am at St. James Cathedral, 804 9th Ave, Seattle. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Seattle, WA.
