AUNTIE LORNA AND FAMILY I AM SO SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS. MY THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU ALL. MAY YOU REST IN PEACE MY DEAR COUSIN LITO.
I worked with Lito at the Seattle Home Depot then when I transfered to the Kent store I found he was there also.Such a GREAT guy always a smile. He was so funny because after being in Seattle at that Home depot Kent was such a slow store he hated it and couldn’t wait to leave it.He seemed so very excited to be joining the police force. He is the kind of people we need on our police force, very driven by what he believes and loved.
Such a tragic loss to everybody who loved him.I’m still in shock.
I’m so sorry for his family and those close to him to lose such a precious life.
I’ll always remember your smile.
Rest in Peace.
Your friend Tina

As a uniform supplier, I watched Joselito go all through the police academy. We see these people as our kids and form quite a bond with them as they become police officers.
He was very kind and a joy to have around. This situation is so unfair, but we can rejoice knowing he led a good life and had great accomplishments.
My condolences to all his family and friends. He will be greatly missed.
Your loss is a great one that all of us in the community share with you. May you find peace, love and understanding in the days to come. My prayers are with you during this time.
My heart goes out to Ofcr. Barber’s family – his family members & his family in blue. Your loss is felt throughout the community. God bless.
I didn’t know Ofcr Barber but I feel great appreciation for him and those who put their lives on the line for others. It is selfless and we should all aspire to be the same. The contribution he made to our community makes it a stronger and greater one. As a fellow Husky and citizen of Seattle, I send my deepest sympathies your family at this time. I have you all in my prayers.
Lito,
I feel privileged to have shared some time working with you at Sears.
God Bless You and Comfort
Your Family, Your Fiance Amber, and your Friends in this most difficult time.
May God Protect those who Protect Us.

My deepest condolences and sympathy. I didn’t know Lito that well but I did have the opportunity to work with him at Home Depot. I can tell you though he was always pumped up for the chase or ready to tackle…was always happy when apprehending those bad guys…My prayers are with you…
I am deeply sorry for your loss. I was a classmate of Lito’s at St. Paul and always remember his smile and great attitude towards all. He will be greatly missed, you are all in my prayers.
As part of the law enforcement family for over 50 years and that is what “Lito” was part of even for such a short time I pray that knowing he was doing something he loved helps bring you peace. He will always be a part of all of us.Know you are all in our hearts and prayers.
MY DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO THE FAMILY AND TO HIS FINIANCE.
LITO IS NO LONGER HERE TO PROTECT US BUT HE IS UP THERE WATCHING OVER HIS FAMILY AND THE PEOPLE IN THE COMMUNITY. HE WILL BE MISSED!
I met your fiancé not too long ago, it was actually the same day I met you at Michelle’s house. The day we were to fly out to Hawaii, for Michelle’s wedding, Amber came to the airport with her luggage stating she was going to wait for you until you arrived to wish you a goodbye kiss. One afternoon in Maui, Amber, Alan and I sat on the balcony of our condo talking about you. The way she described you and how much you loved your job excited me knowing that there are good people out there that still care about our community and fellow sister and brothers. We went shopping that day and she bought you a whole bunch of T-shirts…they were great! Just the time I spent with her made me feel close to you in spirit. You are in great hands Lito, and although we never spoke more than a few words of a mere simple hello, I knew you were a special man. Thank you for caring and may god bless you. REST IN PEACE Lito!
We at the Kent Home Depot are all so very sorry for your loss.
Lito was a bright light at the store, this is how we will remember him. Our thoughts and prayers have been with you please take some comfort in knowing his life was a model which others will pattern their own.

I never knew Officer Barber. Regardless, his tragic death brought tears.
I did not know Officer Barber, nor did I know Mary Jane Rivas. In times like this, because of our emotions, it is easy to “hate” someone. Even if we know deep down they did not intentionally mean for someone to die because of thier actions/stupiidity.
But in times like this we must remember to not only say a Prayer for Officer Barber and his family and loved ones, but also and maybe even more importantyly we must also say a Prayer for Mary Jane Rivas and most of all her family and loved ones. For just like those who loved Officer Barber, those who loved Mary Jane are hurting too.
I did not know either Officer Barber or Mary Jane Rivas. I don’t know how thier loved ones feel, and am not going to even try to guess. I can only say how I know I felt hearing of this tragidy, and how I would feel if I loved either Officer Barber or Mary Jane.
But I do know, that we must all think of the fact that Officer Barber is at PEACE with GOD, Mary Jane is not.
My hear goes out to all who knew and loved Officer Barber and Mary Jane Rivas.
Lito,
You were what they called “A Few Good Men”. I don’t know many guys your age with the qualites you had. Mature beyone your years, you did in your short lifetime, what many else fail to do. You achieved your lifelong dream, found your true love.
My prayers and thoughts go out to all of you loved ones, to Amber your Finace; to everyone who has been touched by you. You will be missed.. but I hope it brings some comfort to your family knowing what an amazing son they raised and how very proud they should be of you… You lead by example Lito.. and you will be missed… til we meet again.. watch over us all…
Christine and family

My son Tom Calabrese worked at Sears with Lito and is also a King County Sheriff. I am sending hugs and prayers to all your family members.
Our deepest sympathy to Lito’s family. With love from Hugo and Meredith.
Cousin Lito will be missed. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the entire family.
Although I never met Lito, it is clear that he was an honorable, noble gentleman who was loved and respected by many whose lives he touched. I can only dream of having attained that stature when my time comes.
I’m particularly grateful for, and impressed by his desire to serve his community as a police officer. His was a noble and selfless calling, and one that deserves so much more thanks and respect than it gets.
I’m assured that he now rests in the arms of his loving Creator, rewarded for his short life here on Earth.
Rest in peace, Lito.
The loss is overwhelming for so many who you touched over the too-few years. God has added another wonderful angel to His army.
Michael

God took you for a REASON Lito.
He took you to show us all even those who did not know you what a SPECIAL man you are.
Take care Lito, I never knew you. But it’s easy to see what a TRUE Angel of the Lord that you are.
Although we never met Lito, we have a deep respect for him. Our son-in-law was in his class at the academy. It sure brings the loss close to home and gives one a reason to stop and be thankful for our lives we live. Without people like Lito serving his community our lives would not be what they are today. Our prayers go out to the Barber family. What a wonderful young man Lito was. Thank you for sharing him with us. Lito, rest in peace, for you will never be forgotten…..

I was lucky enough to meet Lito through my best friend Jason Humphrey. Even though I only had a few opportunites to spend time with him, he is one of those rare people who’s character and demeanor shines through with just his presence.
My thoughts and best wishes go out to his family and Amber.

Our deepest and most sincere sympathies to Amber and the Barber family. We did not know Lito personally, but as members of the St. Paul Parish we are grieved by the loss of one our church family. Both of our children attend St. Paul School, and we are proud that they will be going to the same school that helped shape such a fine young man. Your family’s strength and composer at this time of loss has shown the Seattle community the beauty that is a loving and caring Filipino family. God bless you all.
