Obituary

Joyce Camille (Lundquist) Meldrum, of Gig Harbor WA, passed peacefully in her sleep on April 5, 2018.

Joyce, born November 13 1944, was adopted as an infant and raised by her parents Eugene and Thelma Lundquist in Cache Valley, Utah. She attended and graduated from South Cache High School. In 1963, she married David Meldrum in Paris, Idaho. They were later sealed in the Logan Utah LDS Temple.

After David graduated from Utah State University in 1966, they moved to Seattle with their young family. Together, they raised their nine children in the Tukwila & Sea-Tac area. In their later years, David and Joyce also lived in West Seattle, Washington, Auburn, Washington, Hilo Hawaii, and finally in Gig Harbor Washington. Joyce passed away one week before they would have celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on April 11th.

Joyce had a very generous heart. She had a love of music that was passed on from her parents, and learned to play the piano at an early age. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She loved children, and for a few years in the late 60’s, in addition to caring for her own children, she and David brought newborn foster children into their home. These were children waiting to be placed with adoptive parents. They also participated in the LDS Native American placement program and fostered additional children in the early 70’s.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Stephen Lundquist, son Mark Meldrum and grandsons Daniel Meldrum & Chad Meldrum. She is survived by her husband David Meldrum, sisters Louise Barnson and Julie Pickett, sons Eric and Benjamin Meldrum, daughters Karla Meldrum, Pamela Hughes, Sandra Peterson-Binder, Camille Anderson, Diane Hanika and Leslie Munger, 21 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and many more that she loved as her own grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at the Seattle Washington LDS Stake Center, 14022 Ambaum Blvd SW, Seattle Washington at 1:30 pm on Saturday April 14, 2018. Interment at the Washington Memorial Park located at 16445 International Blvd, Sea Tac, WA 98188.
