Obituary
Our beloved mother, Juanita Underwood, age 87, passed away on October 17, 2011, with family at her side. She was preceded in death by her significant other of 25 years, Sam Malkowski and her grandson Steven J. Underwood. Juanita is survived by her two sons Richard and his wife Lynn of Des Moines, Ronald and his wife Chris of Marysville; four grandchildren; Lynnea Staley, Angela Daninger, Kalene Paz, Tyler Underwood and five great-grandchildren. Juanita was born August 20, 1924 in Elk City, Oklahoma. She spent her formative years in Lubbock, Texas graduating from Lubbock High School in 1943. Shortly after graduation she moved to Long Beach, California to work in the naval shipyards. In 1945 she married Al Underwood and began her family. She spent two years in Fairbanks, Alaska before moving to Seattle where she eventually went to work for the Boeing Company. Juanita retired from Boeing in 1986 after 30 years of service. Since her retirement, she loved spending time with her family, traveling, RVing and winters in Arizona. Private services were held at Bonney Watson Washington Memorial Park. Remembrances may be made to the Western Washington Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association.
