Obituary
Judy Earle passed away peacefully the morning of July 31st 2018 at the age of 74 at Wesley Homes in Des Moines WA, surrounded by family, friends, and lots of flowers. Those that knew her well know that her incredibly strong will, perseverance and quiet strength allowed her to enjoy life fully as long as possible in spite of being diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia four years ago.
Born Judith Rae Furro on January 7th 1944, to Irving Morris Furro and Ruth Evangeline Furro, in Tacoma WA, Judy grew up with her family on their farm near Eatonville. She attended Bethel High School along with her sisters Mona and Alice, and graduated at the top of her class. She soon after received a bachelor’s degree in foreign language at the University of Washington. She taught high school French within the Highline School district, and was admired by many students. During her teaching career she took students to France six times.
Judy was very involved with the Daughters of Norway, and was president of her Solveig Lodge #31 for several years.
Judy is survived by her husband Richard Earle, sons Jeffrey Earle and Douglas Earle, sister Mona Margolis, and her two nieces Susan Margolis and Sally Margolis.
She has been inspirational to so many people throughout her years, and is missed dearly by family and friends. Please come join us to share the story of her wonderful life, be with family and friends and celebrate an incredible woman. There will be a Memorial and Celebration of a Wonderful Life, being held on Saturday September 22nd at 2:00pm, at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church located at 158 S 168th St, Burien WA 98148.
Over this most recent summer, Judy put a great deal of effort into her gardening and especially enjoyed caring for her ever growing number of flowers. She created a very uplifting scene in a large yard by doing so.
“When you miss me, go sit within the flowers.”
Following her retirement, Judy tutored several of my French students. They absolutely loved her. I don’t know what I would have done without her knowledge and professionalism. And that great smile! Judy was a supportive friend, willing to help out any way she could. I will miss you, Judy.
What a great friend you were. I know so many of us will miss you & your lovely presence at our Daughters of Norway events. I’m very glad that we were able to make one of your ‘last wishes’ come true with the trip and experiences at Convention this summer. Love and Grace be with you my dear Judy! Carol
Dear Family – Richard, Jeffrey, Douglas, Mona,
I want to share my sympathy with you on the passing of your dear Judy. I am a cousin of Judy’s. Her grandmother and my grandmother were sisters and immigrants from Telemark, Norway. We met Judy, Dick, and the “boys” for the first time at a family reunion in 1999 in Iola, Wisconsin and developed a wonderful friendship over the succeeding years.
I, too, grew to admire her resolve for life as she fought for life with leukemia. God blessed all whom she touched; her family, her students, and those through her Norwegian culture activities.
Medical issues prevent my presence at her Celebration in September, but know that I am there in spirit.
Our condolences to the family for your loss. Judy will be missed by many.

Judy was such an energetic person and gave so much to the community! On Saturday instead of being at her celebration of life, I will be in a plane en route to her beloved France. We both enjoyed speaking french and teaching it.
May her memory be a blessing to her family and all those whose lives she touched.
