Obituary

June Dudley Blakney, passed away peacefully, at the graceful age of 100, on January 17th, 2019. June was born in 1918 in Pendleton Oregon to Max and Viola Dudley.  However, June called West Seattle home since the 1940’s.

During her long and remarkable life,  June D. Blakney worked at the Army Corps of Engineers as a clerk typist and for over half of her life, volunteered in many different capacities at the West Seattle Christian Church, including Sunday School Superintendent and Teacher & Wedding Consultant.  June was also heavily involved in the Womens Group in support of Missionary work.  June was kind, generous & trusting with a gentle soul.

June was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, George H. Blakney, and is survived by her Sister Geneva Coffin, her daughter Bonnie Byerly (Don), son Howard Blakney (Deborah), four Grandchildren and two Great Grandchildren.  A memorial service will be held on January 29th at 1:00pm at Washington Memorial Park & Mortuary, 16445 International Blvd. SeaTac, WA 98118. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent in June’s name to West Seattle Christian Church or EvergreenHealth Hospice.
