Obituary

Karen Elizabeth Dzimah nee LaPierre was born on Febrauary 3, 1952 in Plattsburg, New york to Donald and Beverly LaPierre. Karen was raised in Chazy, New York and graduated from Chazy Central Rural School in 1970; at the same time, she graduated with her Nursing degree and began working in the first of many mental health facilities. In 1984 she gave birth to her first and only child, Amber Rozier. Following Amber’s birth, Karen moved to Inglewood, California. After eleven years in California, she met and eventually married Samuel Dzimah. The summer of 1998 brought a new beginning; Karen, Sam and Amber made the move from Southern California to Seattle, Washington where she lived with her husband and daughter for the last eight and a half years.
Karen was a kind, loving soul. It was her life’s joy to care for others. Throughout her thirty-seven year career as a Nurse, she selflessly gave her all to each of her patients; doing whatever she could to make them smile. Those lucky enough to call Karen a friend would certainly attest that when Karen was your friend, she was yours forever. She would never hesitate to help you in your time of need.
Preceded in death by her parents, Karen is survived by her daughter Amber, husband Samuel, brothers Stephen and Kevin of New York, nieces Heather and Kaitlin, nephews Casey and Matthew, and a number of friends. Her smile, sense of humor, and infectious laughter had the ability to brighten even the darkest day. Karen had undoubtedly touched the lives of many and will be greatly missed by all that knew her.

I’m so sorry to hear about Karen. I enjoyed taking care of her. I could tell she was a great lady.
