Obituary

Kay Woods, a resident of Maple Valley for over 50 years, passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 3, 2012, after living “The life I wanted to live, out in the country, with my dogs, gardens and 3 wonderful children.” We shall miss her guidance and love. Kay was preceded in death by her loving sister Ginny Wierda. She leaves behind her devoted brother John Case, brother-in-law Gary Wierda, and lifelong friend Edna Paulson. She will always be remembered by her 3 grateful children and their spouses, Julia and Erik Smock, Bill and Karla Clouston and Shawn and Audrey Clouston; and Tina Clouston her treasured grandchild, whom she was extremely proud of. Kay was grateful for the friends at her bible study and the Maple Valley senior center, and those many neighbors who watched out for her and stopped to talk with her at her gate.

She will always be remembered for her fierce independence, strong work ethic and her love of God. She always took great care of God’s creatures, dogs, birds, fish and squirrels. Her passion was for giving dogs a home who could find no home. She leaves behind for now 2 dogs, Abby and Casey, and two 24-year old goldfish Goldie and Blondie, who are lovingly being taken care of by her family. Memorials may be made to Old Dog Haven at olddoghaven.org. On line condolences may be sent to the family by visiting her memorial at www.bonneywatson.com. Bonney-Watson Washington Memorial was entrusted with her arrangements.

Kay was a good friend and I will miss her.

She added so much to our home group bible study, she always said she never learned anything from someone that agreed with her. I admired her boldness, she was not ashamed of her belief in God and she had such a spirit and zest for life.

In the end Kay didn’t fear death and knew God was there for her and that He would take care of her. I miss her but take comfort in knowing someday I will see Kay again in heaven.

I am so saddened to here of your mother’s passing. She and I worked at Auburn Regional Medical Center together for many years. She was always a joy to be around and the patient’s and staff loved her. She was very compassionate and kind. She was an excellent nurse and someone we could all count on. She had a terrific sense of humor and the ability to make people laugh. We missed her when she retired but were happy for her as well, knowing she was glad in her retirement. Please except my most sincere condolences.
