Obituary
Kazuko NAGAI Kazuko Nagai, passed away on January 29, 2012, at the age of 96. Kazuko was born on April 9, 1915 in Sacramento, California to Ichitaro Mirikitani and Mito (Ochiai) Mirikitani. At the age of 5, Kazuko’s father took her and her three brothers back to Japan to be raised by her grandparents, because her mother died giving birth to her youngest brother. Kazuko returned to Seattle in 1939 to marry Asa Tamaki Nagai. In 1942, she and her husband were relocated to the Minedoka Relocation Camp, in Hunt, Idaho during World War II. After the War, they returned to Seattle to manage and lease apartment houses and small hotels to make a living and raise their children. Kazuko was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. She is survived by her younger brother Tsutomu Mirikitani (NY), her children Ernest (Sanaye) Nagai, James Nagai, Irene (Ric) Hord, Steve (Karen) Nagai. Grandchildren: Kevin (Jennifer) Nagai, Sharyl (Duane) Kamihara, Danny (Joy) Nagai, Stephanie Nagai, Tami (Chris) Meek, Brian Nagai, Michael Nagai, Marianne (Darrin) Hood, Tina (Jeff) Gallagher, Great-grandchildren: Ervin Nagai, Drew Kamihara, Deren Kamihara, Keira Nagai, Krissie Meek, Odie Meek, Anthony Hood, and Jenna Hood. Private family services were held at Blaine Memorial United Methodist Church. Memorials may be made to Nikkei Concerns 1601 E.
