Farwell my friend.
I was so saddened to learn of Kevin’s passing. He was the most helpfull person in our guild, always taking time to help out the new people. I had never played a game online before and was utterly lost and confused. He was always quick to lend guidance and so patiently put up with my constant stream of questions.
Since he had a great love for his four legged furry kids we will be making a donation to a local cat rescue program in his name.
He will be deeply missed.
Heather, Chad and Caity Manthey
We are so saddened to hear of Kevin’s passing. Do know, Maureen, Julia, and Mikey, that you are in our thoughts and prayers. May God Bless.
In sympathy,
Woody and Karlene
Kevin was always helping someone in or out of our guild. Game play often mirrors real life and I trust it was so for Kevin as well. I am saddened by his passing.
May you be comforted and find peace in knowing that you will see him again someday.
May the memories you carry deep within your heart bring the light of healing to your soul. With deepest sympathy.
Krista an old friend of Mike’s
I just found out about the loss of Kevin, or Sbr as I and many of us knew him in Horizons. I would just like to wish the rest of the family my condolences. Kevin touched many, many people in Horizons and his compasion, caring, helpfullness, and memories is remembered by many of us.
I met Kevin over five years ago in Everquest, and subsequently met him and Julie “in real life”, as we say in game. When illness limited his activities, the gaming world was a wonderful alternative that gave him opportunities to socialize and help others. We moved to Horizons at the same time. I remember his pride when his dragon Mornin learned to fly. As Sbr, he was tireless in caring for his guildmates. Our last conversation was about the welfare of Legendary Heroes. He will be missed by many in several worlds – there is a monument to his memory in Istaria, built by his guild.
Kevin was an intelligent, kind and courageous man, who handled his long illness with grace and humor. I learned valuable lessons about patience and tolerance from him. He deeply loved his wife Julie and admired her so much.
Kevin was my friend. I’ll miss him.
I met Kevin and I went through Air Force ROTC field training @ McChord AFB the summer of ’77. He was out of Washington State University and I was Pacific Lutheran University. We were both assigned as new second lieutenants @ Hanscom from ’79-’84. I moved back to the Puyallup area and looked him up. After he married we had he and Julie over for a barbeque in Puyallup.
My wife and I moved to Minnesota in 1996 and I lost touch with Kevin but just found this obit today (2022). Sad to be losing so many of my former colleagues.
